It is worth doing some basic math here, and calculating the loss of life from an unstable individuals who shoot up a crowd vs the loss of freedom that comes from a disarmed citizenship that is at the mercy of the state. America fought wars to insure freedom, and Americans died. Even if it goes up to two mass shootings a day, that take out a crowd of 40+ people, the freedom is worth it, isn’t it? Just make sure we come up with the best practices to make sure you don’t get shot up yourself, and let everything else rot. Of course, to stop mass shootings, it is argued to arm more people. So, you can have high schools full of teens who are armed, and then they can get ticked off and shoot the person they are angry at and then kill themselves in remorse. Or, they can shoot and miss and hit someone else. Cafeteria food fights could be turned into shootouts with someone getting accidentally hit, deciding they needed to do pay back. At least there isn’t mass shooting, just
So, how many lives that come from mass shootings do you figure the freedom to own guns is worth?
"I am my own thang. Any questions?" - Davis S Pumpkins.
Any death by murder is a tragic event, and more so if it is young people who would have had a long life in front of them.
But murder associated with the use of a rifle is pretty rare in the US. About 300-400 murders a year are the result of rifles, nationwide. With a population of 350 million, that an extremely low rate.
In the area where I live now, there are several million people. There were 7 murders committed by use of a rifle. There were none in the county I live in, they almost are all from the capital city, with a large population.
Again, any murder, and especially young people, is a tragedy. But perspective is important too. If we were searching the data banks for the tops things we can tackle that would rid us of needless deaths, murder by rifle wouldn’t be high on the list. Opioid abuse, suicide, drunk driving, those would be on there. They kill in the tens of thousands.
Also, in your calculations, have you considered how many times mad leaders have decided to turn their henchmen loose on unarmed populations. Part of the reason we hold the 2nd amendment dear is that we understand government powers, at any level, state, local, or federal, can become tyrannical, and an armed citizenry acts as a check on authoritative impulses.
How can a woman be expected to be happy with a man who insists on treating her as if she were a perfectly normal human being.

Anonymous7K. I’ll bite.
How many mass shootings happen at a gun convention?I have peers of my generation that use to show up to school with shotguns in the gun rack of their truck.
Why did they bring shotguns to school? So they could go hunting after school.
There was also a time when rifles where placed in a barrel and sold at drug stores, like candy.
Bugger off.

I am not giving up my guns, Period….
Molon Labe
Beans, Bullets and Band Aids..
Beside someone has to stop the Zombies…

Anonymous2Cars kill more people than guns. You should ban knives to, along with antifreeze for poisoning! All a gun does is provide shock and awe! Look at me I need attention. Look up the stats on how many people get stabbed a year. Sorry I don’t have them but a Police officer friend showed me and they are staggering. Do we hear about them, no not really unless it’s real bad. It doesn’t cause an uproar like the terrible guns do.
I’m teaching my daughter to shoot and she’s doing quite well and is very safe. I don’t know how you can compare how many citizens should die or their worth for freedom.
Look into Arlington National Cemetary or your local military cemetery and see the blood shed for our right to bear arms. It gives me chills. Lots of modern millennials don’t care or notice. That’s why they protest at these tragedies. If they hung the worthless f~~~s who did it instead of letting them live and get tv coverage and get called hot from useless c~~~s it would curb some.
You will never stop crazy! Once determined they will find a way. Someone can kill with a plastic spork. Just no news there really not enough bang. The one in Colorado and South Carolina should have died within days of proof of guilt. I’d love to attend a church with open carry.
All the ones who hate guns and protest them are the ones who have never needed one! Then they will cry for one. That’s why Police have them so they don’t have to wait around to return fire or stop any shooting before any shots are fired! (for any gun hating folk reading this).
Everyone should shoot some tannerite and blow some s~~~ up. It’s fun and a good stress reliever!

Anonymous54Well, Ive had people try and take me out with

Sissors.
Hand gun
Axe
Iron bar

Same as Mass road killings are the price paid to have freedom to own trucks. After all more people die in wrecks with trucks then all the shootings. Oh and add in the new trend by isis using trucks to mow down people.

Good point.
If people have guns.
There is a shooter.
People can shoot back.
No guns
A guy runs peoole over.
How you gonna stop him?630,000 Americans die from heart disease every year. Heart disease almost always stems from bad diets, smoking, and lack of exercise.
This is a disgrace and says FAR more about our country than the shootings do.
Regardless, the question of freedom and guns misses the mark.
Have you heard of Blackstone’s Formulation?
“It is better that ten guilty persons escape than that one innocent suffer.”
This is a cornerstone of all western law, in case you were unfamiliar. This is the foundational principle from which we get the concept, “Innocent until proven guilty.”
Therefore, you cannot punish me unless you can prove I’m guilty of a crime.
If I have never killed anyone, you cannot punish me by taking away my property (such as guns). It doesn’t matter how noble your motive might be. Once you start punishing the innocent in pursuit of a “noble cause,” the entire foundation for freedom of any kind crumbles and you descend into totalitarianism.
Think through the consequences of your proposals before you make them. We are our own worst enemy when it comes to the loss of our freedoms.

Personally.
I found it to be quite an advantageous learning experience having the business end of a firearm pointed at me while I was armed myself.
Needless to say, but I will anyway.
I am still here. There was a time in my life when I gave a fuck. Now you have to pay ME for it
Mass shooters are the price you pay when you allow the alphabet agencies to do as they please.

I had a thing for fire. Ha ha.

Multi media is part of the problem.
With shootings plastered all of over the news, tv and web it could be argued that it puts the ideas into more people’s head. The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape, finding oneself in the ranks of the insane. Marcus Aurelius
