Anonymous13I believe the anonymous moderators to be a very good idea. I also believe they should have the patience that Keymaster has displayed in the past so as not to abuse the “power”.
Precisely.
That’s why it can’t be Joey.
He’s literally chomping at the bit for this ‘power’
Remember, Gargamel was an extreme. We’ve never seen anything like it before and likely never will again.
He went berserk, no question.
But certain people here were dowsing him in gas and pushing his buttons.Good moderators don’t do that.
Do not panic!
Allow KM to pick any moderators and implement that how he likes.
The mods (if any) …. should be supplied with dedicated and anonymous moderator accounts (mod1, mod2, etc.)
He’s right, he said it yesterday too.
Joey. I love ya man but you gotta let it go. People like us can never wield that kind of power. That type of power is best left to people like Hermit or Branched or certain other people who have wa more tact and patience than us.Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I’m not volunteering. If KM could not find enough of the right personality type to do it and I was needed, I would consider it for the good of the site, but I’m assuming he’ll find someone.

Great topic. Thanks Joey.
I think the anonymity idea is a good one, certainly to start anyway.
I also think the moderators need to be a reasonable number -more than one or two.
I would suggest KM approaches those whom he chooses privately.
I think that they should be people who do not have a history of fighting and name calling. One thing I notice is that when name calling is used in earnest -not for guys having a laugh like say Colin and Hermit- then things escalate very fast and get far more serious than it should. If a man’s dignity is offended everything he learned in the playground tells him to defend himself fiercely and this doesn’t work well on a forum where no one can see each other.I think that to start it would be a really good idea if the moderators had quite limited powers -perhaps like to sin bin a guy for 24 hours if he carried on after a warning. If the guy then comes back to cause more trouble, he may be sin binned for 48 hours. Beyond that he can be sin binned for a week. Further weeks can be added until KM returns to judge the case. There may later be a case for letting moderators permanently make people spectators but it is easier to give less powers to start and then increase them than to have to wade in and take them away.

Joey, what if you were given that power, to time-out or ban a profile… no one here would treat you the same… you’d no longer be a peer, you’d be the ratty hall monitor.
it needs to be anonymous… I like the idea of Mod 1 and Mod 2.
I respect your opinion on the subject matter bro and I have no ill-wills to what you said so if you feel that way then so be it. It’s not like I’m trying to force KM to make me a mod but if I was or anyone else, they should have very limited powers who intervene in blocking apparent trolls. That’s all. And I’m an active member of this forum in such times I can act instantly so that the situation doesn’t get out of hand.

I think KM mentioned something about just having the mod put them in spectator mode and then upon his return he can decide what to do with them.

Yes, asking to be a mod with very limited powers is chomping at the bits for power. Again, you didn’t refute what I said before and attacked me with the same old BS that I was pushing his buttons and I somehow panic’d. But how about the fact that people like me begged for weeks to make garg stop or reach a compromise? Garg didn’t want to settle things even though I reached my hand to him so it was obvious he wanted war, not peace.
Again, someone who is inactive in the forum and watched on the sidelines as if it was entertainment really adds little value to the discussion of this important matter.

Anonymous13KM needs to implement something to stop this happening again for sure.
You power hungry bastard…..if you become mod, you should ban yourself. LOL
LOL you got me there. I understand how some people like pedal might freak out a bit at the thought of mods coming to being or maybe he just doesn’t like me, whatever that’s cool I don’t care. But I did my best to make Garg stop and he wouldn’t listen. No matter what sort of truce/deal I tried to raise, he would decline every single one of them and that’s when he made his agenda very clear from the start.
And you’re asking me to respect someone like him? What would be the point if reason is out the window?
Branched has good ideas too, first warning 24 Hour Ban…2nd warning 48 hours…3rd a week and then 4th a permanent ban?
I’m not saying that if I was a mod I’m going to start banning people left and right lol hell no. There has to be strict guidelines and rules and mods have to follow them

I think that would be OK. Maybe I was over complicating it but I do ideally like the idea of at least one temporary sin bin so someone angry can cool off before being exiled. Limited powers to start also appeals because KM is away for long periods at the moment and if we got one rogue mod things could be miserable for a while. Recent events have taught me just how susceptible some can be to going rogue.

But certain people here were dowsing him in gas and pushing his buttons. On behalf of Joey, I’d like to disagree with the above quote.
Gargamel was never provoked by anyone. He has no buttons to push. The opposite was true… many members (level headed nice men) approached him with good intentions and those men were spammed relentlessly. G-MOW, Joey, Gravel (myself) and Macho to name only a few…
We never poured gas or provoked him… he was already in full crazy mode from prior imagined events….
Anyway, I said my peace here twice and I think Key Master “gets’ the point of this thread. Not much more to say other than, YES, we need a mod

Yes sir, that’s a fact, the rogue thing.

The moderators will manage with powers much like the Stasi in East Germany through control and infiltration using ‘psychological tactics’ and subversion. . .
Oh, f~~~. . . Nevermind.

This is much like when the Gestopo used ‘infiltration’ units and political mod-tactics during the reign of control & power.
With psychological tactics & mind control with the secret police.
They too were ‘anonymous’
