Moderators are needed, and KM agrees as he mentioned yesterday.

It’s just a matter of getting ENOUGH moderators HOPEFULLY spread throughout EACH DAY so the site will be “protected” MOST of the day and night 24/7/365. It’s a TALL order, but actually ANY Moderation is far BETTER than none.

So, not “if”, but “when” the next cat attack comes there’s somebody there to lock that lil kitty out !!

This poster with NO INTRO and threads that are just a bunch of links and videos, single handedly caused much of the hostility and aggression here. He kept on at Gargamel winding him up like a spring.

That’s my position as well. I really don’t care who. Maybe back in the past constant moderation wasn’t needed, but it obviously is now. Like Monk said, when you get a bunch of people together, eventually policing is required.

Not an argument. Prove that I caused much of the hostility here. I have the respect and appreciation of most brothers here so to say that I caused anything of that sort is nothing but lies. The only time I acted in that manner is when someone was asking for it, and in Gargamel’s case he was. Everyone can agree on that. And what does my intro have anything to do with this? I don’t know if that is possible, but it just looks like it has Tower all over it. Some may punch me in the sack for this, but I couldn’t help but laugh a little after I figured out who it was. Humor in poor taste is still funny sometimes.

As I said in KM’s long overdue check in thread, a moderation team is needed but it shouldn’t be based on a popularity contest, otherwise we run the risk of polarising the board, it’s one thing to take out the trash but we need to be careful not to throw out the baby with the bathwater.

The mods (if any) should be decided on and appointed by Keymaster and ideally should be supplied with dedicated and anonymous moderator accounts (mod1, mod2, etc.) completely separate from their personal accounts, otherwise invisible but while still vigilant and ready to step in to take out the trash when needed.

I believe the anonymous moderators to be a very good idea. I also believe they should have the patience that Keymaster has displayed in the past so as not to abuse the “power”.

Joey. I love ya man but you gotta let it go. People like us can never wield that kind of power. That type of power is best left to people like Hermit or Branched or certain other people who have wa more tact and patience than us.

Joey, what if you were given that power, to time-out or ban a profile… no one here would treat you the same… you’d no longer be a peer, you’d be the ratty hall monitor.

it needs to be anonymous… I like the idea of Mod 1 and Mod 2.
