99% of the time, the person approaching your door to sell something doesn’t want to be there either. Someone else is putting them up to it. It’s something the Witnesses have to go through to get to the next stage or whatever. And the guy selling you pest control services is wishing he had paid more attention in school. No one starts their own business and decides they are going to sell door-to-door themselves.

States or provinces or whatever usually have statutes against trespassing on private property. If your property was posted against it, copy the statute, hand them a copy, and warn them that this time you will not prosecute, but they should tell their congregation that future violators will be subject to it. I had done this decades ago for a single person. It stopped the person from future violations.

As someone with very close contact to Jehovah’s Witnesses I can tell you that this is something that many people in the streets miss or ignore, all for the sake of preaching.

I believe that some of the best people I’ve ever met are Jehovah’s Witnesses, and so are some of the worst people too. It varies, and mind you, they’re not perfect but more or less try to be reasonable with people.

I’m sorry they ignored your sign. Hopefully they’ll jot it down and move along.
