Actually, there is a real good chance of destroying the Compressor.

At 38 degrees F the pressure/temperature of the liquid line off the condenser is to low. This can cause slugging. Hopefully, the condensing unit has a low pressure safety.

If not, well go ***** the bitch.

Holy Crap!!!! That explains why it doesn’t cool as well on 70 degree days. The damage has already started. Been trying to figure out what the hell was wrong with it. None of the service people know. Thanks man!

No, this is an airflow problem or the system is over/under charged or the compressor is f~~~ed.

Airflow being the condenser or evaporator coils are dirty or dirty filter or dirty fan on the high or low side. I suspect the system is just dirty. Under charged eventually it would just stop working perhaps even break the compressor. Over charged and it would not work.

If slugging occurs long enough it breaks the compressor and the f~~~ing thing won’t work at all.

Imagine a 2 cycle engine that requires you mix gas and oil. Now imagine that the engine is starved of oil for a bit then gets a massive dose (slugging)

Tell the powers that be that you consulted a HVAC guy and he recommends that the system be checked or cleaned. If not it is only a mater of time before it is destroyed and will have to be replaced.

If they already contract for this sort of thing they are being robbed.

If an A/C does not work adequately in mild summer temps but use to, it is under charged or dirty.

Either under charged or dirty is bad news for the equipment.
