Is exile to the "Friend Zone" permanent?

I was responding to a thread by Taxguy and I raised this question. Rather than co-opt his thread I believe this question deserves its own thread.

Posit: If a woman meets you–and in that first 30 seconds you fail to generate the gina-tingles thus you get friend-zoned; is it possible for this to change? That is if later on down the road the same man increases his social status and wealth will a woman’s hyprgamous nature trump her initial decision?

My experience is that it will not—under any circumstances no matter how much greater the social status or wealth, a woman will not de-friend-zone a guy. And I think the reason is because to do so would be to admit to error in judgment initially –which is impossible for a woman so the impossibility of admitting error DOES trump her instinct for social status and $$$$.

The “Friend Zone” is two parts. The first part is the woman making it clear that nothing romantic will happen with the man.

The second part is the woman still trying to exploit resources from the man she has no romantic interests in.

There are a lot of justifications for the first part. Woman is a blood relative, or in a relation, or she has her own personal problems that would preclude her from having a relationship with someone.

There are no justification for the second part. If the woman does not want to give anything, she should not receive anything.

I think you can get out of the friend zone. I’ve done it before without even trying. I had this chick I really liked when I was younger and tried to play the nice guy with, asked her out, got shot down, and was kicked firmly into the friend zone.

A couple months later I started dating some other chick and the one who had shot me down earlier in the year suddenly decided she wanted to date me desperately but I wouldn’t give her the time of day after that lol. For me personally the friend zone is a place in a woman’s mind that you exist in if you allow it. Men control it. I call it the “No Hoe Zone”! Once a female has that label on you it tells you what she’s about. If she comes back for favors from you without giving anything in return. I think you can get out, but ultimately I’ve come to this conclusion as well so it doesn’t even matter. It seems like this thread is focused on money getting you out but I’ve done it just by her finding out I’ve had other attractive girls interested…but in the end what good is it? WOW there are some excellent replies. the reason I raised this issue was of course personal experience. I dated a girl in college for 2 years and was paced in the friend-zone immediately. Like the beta-white-knight fool that I was I kept thinking I could change this. Then years later I met her again and my social status and $$$ had dramatically improved and her economic condition was one step off living in a box beneath an under-pass (and she had hit the wall) AND STILL the first thing out of her mouth to me was ” No still not interested — that way”.

I assumed this was because a woman can NEVER admit to making a mistake of any kind.

I had never thought of an issue the KM brought up in his reply. And that is WHY would I still want this person…AND that friends is a VERY good question. It had never occurred to me before.
