Hi guys. I’ve been seeing reports where Obama is giving control of the Internet to “multi-stakeholder” groups in October. I wonder if MGTOW will be affected.
Do any of you IT guys know anything about this?

“The United States has had the official control over the Internet since its development, but that is about to change. The Obama administration is now backing a plan that would relinquish the last portion of control over the internet to “multi-stakeholder” groups. The plan would allow over 160 foreign governments to have increased influence over the management and operation of the internet.”

The US is the controlling authority behind The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). They are to turn this responsibility over to multi-national entities. There are “supposedly” some stipulations that will keep politicians away from it. I am skeptical. This is a highly controversial change.

These guys are responsible for the technical foundations upon which the Internet operates DNS and IP address allocations are the two most prominent. These are choke points of control.

DNS is the system that translates mgtow.com into the actual networking address that leads you to whatever server(s) this site is hosted. It’s a lot of power to say the least as these guys operate the root servers upon which all other DNS servers rely. In theory, censorship could very easily be implemented as most countries do not have the protections of free speech that the US does.

Hmmm, well in that case shall some of us swap e-mail addresses via PMs (just in case rather than Justin Case) before that might happen I wonder…?

I'd rather die a natual death with a clear MGTOW conscience somewhere off the grid than one within "modern" civilisation with a big stress mark on my forehead and a couple of dozen tubes plugged into my body. I suppose it would be left to the individual country but with anything there are ways around, like VPN’s and TOR.

We’ve seen reporters and even civilians getting messages out of some of the most restrictive countries on Earth.

I’d choose a VPN to a trusted VPN host over using TOR. There are so many compromised honeypot TOR exit nodes operated by governments that I would not trust it. The ransomware guys seem to be having a field day with TOR though.

Personally, I believe the various security agencies have man-in-the-middle attack(MITM) devices implemented everywhere along the Internet backbone that will break all encryptions. They will not publicly divulge it for OPSEC reasons. I can configure my security appliance to MITM attack https and not even throw a certificate error on any device on my network. I am not a government. What do they have?

    You’re most welcome PPP.

As I mentioned in an earlier thread, “THE internet” is really just an agreed upon protocol for communication. The above is like saying “…foreign governments to have increased influence over the management and operation of the alphabet.”

DNS is the system that translates mgtow.com into the actual networking address that leads you to whatever server(s) this site is hosted. It’s a lot of power to say the least as these guys operate the root servers upon which all other DNS servers rely.

This is true, but there is nothing preventing anyone from setting up and running their own DNS system. In fact there was talk about forking the DNS system and doing that back in the late nineties when the courts got involved and said “People who Eat Tasty Animals” weren’t allowed to keep peta.com even though they had registered it first.

I highly doubt it will come to that, but there is no reason we couldn’t set up our own DNS servers and point mgtow.com to whatever server we wanted. Bear in mind, only people who changed the config on their computers to point to these new DNS servers would be able to see it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if whole networks of the new DNS 2.0 servers popped up overnight if things got bad enough. You’re right it is a point of control, but it’s also an Achilles heel.

Hmmm, well in that case shall some of us swap e-mail addresses via PMs before that might happen I wonder…?

Don’t let them get you to believe this is even possible. That’s what the real story is here: the media and establishment desperately wants you to believe that they have the power to control the internet. They don’t.

“The internet views censorship as damage and automatically routes around it.”

That was true when it was written back in the nineties and it’s still true today.

For f~~~s sake, they can’t even take thepiratebay.org offline for more than a few hours at a time and then it’s back again.

And even when it’s down, there’s literally a thousand mirror sites out there that have the same content.

Then there’s things like Tor and freenet where the sites exists as broken up little encrypted chunks distributed randomly across all the systems of everyone using it and only get decrypted and reassembled when someone goes to request it.

The genie’s out of the bottle, and they’re trying desperately to convince you that they somehow have control. They don’t.

We may eventually need to bring back this parallel DNS blast from the past, BD. DNS servers are everywhere and easily configured. I’ve several myself both Windows and Linux though my lil’ ol’ personal network really does not need DNS.

It’s amazing how much more quickly DNS changes replicate versus 20 years ago. Thanks for reminding me about People Eating Tasty Animals 😉

Yep, routing around damage is a feature designed into the Internet. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Totally true. And if they try to control or suppress free speech, there will always be some people who will work around it. They cannot even stop people from pirating movies and video games, how the hell would they block free speech of the people? And if the governments have man in the middle attack devices, one can still use some end to end encryption with some pre-shared public keys and some steganography to make messages seem innocent. There can be brand new peer-to-peer protocols invented. More, there can be new physical layer (like ad-hoc enrypted wifi over the city) implemented by people themselves. Hack out MAC addresses and randomly change all identifiers, no one can detect who is doing what.

If MGTOW is censored, I am off to Iran. They’d be the first to block any feminist crap and I hope to interact with traditional women whose femininity would hopefully be preserved with social pressure and family obligations. Not to mention lack of divorce-friendly laws and slut walks.

I’d send ya all a family photo of me and Shabiba along with Ismail, Rabdullah, and Jasmine.

    RIP.

Sen. Ted Cruz, a Republican Cuckservative from Texas, has introduced legislation that stated that the .gov and .mil top-level domains are U.S. property and asked the government to secure in the transition the exclusive ownership, control and use of the domains in perpetuity.

Ok, now THIS is where it gets interesting. Remeber when I said earlier that the internet was just a protocol?

    Well check this out.

For the less tech inclined, here’s the wikipedia article that explains it.

See this is typical Fox(Faux?) News drivel and why you should NEVER EVER EVER have any faith whatsoever in them.

All this is, is a relatively minor changeup in how the NAMING of things on the internet is handled. In other words, administrivia.

The US will still control all the .com .net .org, nad .edu name assignments (presumably).

There’s a whole pile of new top level domains (the ending part on an internet address) out there like .name .travel .doctor .shootingpeopleintheasswithadartgun whatever. Too many to deal with, so having individual countries have to deal with all the new ones they make up and start selling is probably a GOOD thing.

It’s a shame, because we really could use a trustworthy conservative-leaning news network in this country, but this kind of drivel, and the mountains of (pretty much every) other stories like this prove they are not, they have a clear agenda, and the people running it clearly dont give a f~~~ about real conservativism except to whatever extent they need to to get all the ignorant yahoos on board.

Plenty of reasons to dislike Obama, yet these asshole have to constantly make s~~~ up.

Pretty sure it’s a concerted disinformation campaign so that the legitimate s~~~ gets completely drowned out.

    Classic.
