I legitimately feel like I got screwed out of a damn good position at my distribution center. See I’m pretty savvy when it comes to office applications…hell I won a state competition in the subject, came with scholarships and everything. So imagine my excitement when I see a higher paying job that utilises my skills and knowledge in the subject as well as my knowledge of the place to its maximum. I applied, got an interview and I felt like I knocked it out of the park. So imagine my surprise when I hear from the hiring manager that I was perfect for the position…but they chose someone else, and not just someone else, but the daughter of the admin assistant in my department.
This isn’t the first time it’s happened. Before that I applied for a supervisor position in a department I work with regularly and you know who got that position? The sister of my supervisor! Like what the f~~~?! I work my ass off for these pricks and this is what I get?! Getting shafted from good positions because family?! F~~~ that! Planning exit strategy as we speak.

I hear this frequently not just because of nepotism, but because “Well, you are really needed where you are”.
not just someone else, but the daughter of the admin assistant in my department.
Nepotism and affirmative action. The dynamic duo.
Sorry you didn’t get the job @doubleg. GTFO after you lined up the next one.
"I asked you a question. I didn't ask you to repeat what the voices in you head are telling you" ~ Me. ........Yes I'm still angry.
Happens every single day that goes by. Last time it happened to me I politely had my attorney send my soon to be former company an email. Once they found out I had the resources to REALLY f~~~ them over they gave me a nice severance package just so I would go away. That was roughly 10 years ago. I hope I don’t have to do that again. Nepotism. It’s all over the place and will NEVER go away. Btw, Affirmative Action is just a program put in place to give all the losers a chance. Keep that in mind. That’s all it is.
Sounds like you need to work for a bigger company, one that isn’t family owned. Maybe with a plan to start your own company as a consultant specializing in office applications.

LIFE IS NOT FAIR.
AND, THE WORKPLACE IS ONE OF THE MOST UNFAIR PLACES ON EARTH REGARDLESS OF WHERE, OR WHAT YOU DO, OR WHO YOU DO IT FOR….
My only suggestion is to get into a line of work that REQUIRES some form of State licensing.
At least, this DIMINISHES some of the most blatant favoritism in the work place.

This has happened to me a few times over the years. Passed over for no reason – or simply because I didn’t tongue the taint of a supervisor, and expected my work and ethic to speak for me.
The first time, I was about 25 when some ultra-lazy asshole (who’s job I did for months) got a promotion instead of me, and I confronted the big boss on it. First time I really spoke up. He admired it and tried to say “the candle that burns twice as bright burns alf as long” as if that was supposed to make me feel better. It was not acceptable. But sure enough, the other guy barely lasted, but I stayed longer.
I failed to see how that was a plus at all.
So, I have concluded there is no fairness in this area.Being at the wrong end “favoritism” isn’t such a bad thing.
It also does the favorite no real “favors”. It’s just bulls~~~ politics. The unfairness of it all is a huge motivator for making changes, and you begin to realize that your work, dedication is not as valued there anyway . . . so in this kind of climate, when you want to show your value, you don’t “work harder” or “try more”, you have to LEAVE to make the statement. Often less effort and with more effective results.
It’s on the day you hand in your notice when they will scramble to keep you, maybe to offer you a raise, but what good is that, when they should have already offered it 2 years AGO.
A little MGTOW mindset works here too. Where the in-action and removal of your participation – is the “action”.

If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.LIFE IS NOT FAIR.
It takes a while, but this is a GOOD thing.
Eventually you can learn to make “unfairness” work in YOUR favor once in a while.
If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got. It’s the same everywhere and in politics too.
These kinds of businesses don’t last two generations before they go under from mismanagement and fraud.
I’m done giving my best to some assholes who can’t even admit they need me because that means advancement and money. Cheap f~~~s.

Don’t be afraid of leaving where you’re at to get a better job. Always seek to advance yourself in life. But don’t ever take a job for less. Leave, and leave for more. When you hit the ceiling (unless you’re happy at your job) move on. When they ask why in interviews, tell them. It’s about the $. Companies give you no loyalty. Give them none in return. When I leave, I don’t even give notice. Screw em. They don’t give you notice when they lay you off. In fact, they only SOMETIMES give you notice when they decide to outsource your job.
Companies give you no loyalty. Give them none in return.
I would advise you to keep this particular thought close to your chest and prepare to leave, but not to let any company know that you are already planning on your next employment opportunity.

Having an employment history is very important and no, LinkedIn is not a viable employment history.
Hiring managers are not stupid and will not invest a red cent on any employee that will only use them as a spring board. Unless it is within a position that already pays a substandard wage and burns out those particular employees.
While it is entirely true that companies only care about the investors, they remain aware of their employees. Employees who affect the bottom line are booted, those whose work increases company assets are kept … as long as they have utility.
Learn to play the game. Learn the tasks that your supervisor does so that you can apply for that type of job somewhere else, never within your own company. There is a myth that innovation can only come from hiring outside the company.
Ask Market~~~cher about his new job. Doing what his previous supervisor did, at a new company and for more money and benefits.
Polish your current skill, knowledge and abilities while you obtain those skills and abilities necessary for the next position. Stay within the same financial sector, but there is not reason to stay with the same company unless it is beneficial for you.

I legitimately feel like I got screwed out of a damn good position at my distribution center.
I have some advice for you.
In my sad life, I have watched people be given opportunities, from educations, to well paying jobs, to cars, to even homes. While I have been screwed out of having any of these things.
Proverbially, I was left to clean up after the parties everyone else had. Parties I was never invited to.
But, I realized I had one thing. Time. I could spend my time how I desire.
Unlike those that are like hamsters on wheels, whom saddle themselves with debt on top of debt, barely keeping their head above water, I just do enough to get by and use the rest of my time as I want. If I fall and end up on the streets, at least I have no debts and no one will be come to collect on my ass. That is a lot better than most people.
I even did the math on the chances of success in the U.S. As a man, unless you are born into a rich family, your chance of success in the U.S. is less than 1%. See my posts on this thread: /forums/topic/lazy-people-are-depending-on-you/
My point is if you are not going to get what is due to you, make other plans.
but the daughter of the admin assistant in my department
Sounds about right. /sigh/ Nepotism Sucks!!!
Learn the tasks that your supervisor does so that you can apply for that type of job somewhere else, never within your own company
Best advice you can get right there.
you have to LEAVE to make the statement.
More Keymaster truth!
Polish the resume and get a plan to escape ASAP. Do not quit!!!!!
Planning exit strategy as we speak.
Absolutely the right move, plan it and once you’re ready, notice in and go, do not look back, they’ve f~~~ed you over once, they will keep doing it, and don’t fall for the “oh you’re a valued member of the firm please stay bulls~~~, Keymaster puts very simply.
The unfairness of it all is a huge motivator for making changes, and you begin to realize that your work, dedication is not as valued there anyway . . . so in this kind of climate, when you want to show your value, you don’t “work harder” or “try more”, you have to LEAVE to make the statement. This is exactly what happened with my last firm, I wasted two years trying to convince the bosses that myself and the other key workers were worth more than we were getting, yet it was always “times are hard” “we have to do more with less” and other such crap from people making multiples of our salaries and not having to cut back anywhere. One of whom deliberately blocked a promotion I’d more than earned so he could bring in one of his lackeys who he then expected me to train, that was the day I said enough’s enough.
4 of us ultimately decided to go, and within 6 weeks of that decision we’d all secured job offers with packages 40-80% larger than what we were on at the time. The day after we handed in our notices the boss called me in and asked why I was leaving, I laughed in his face and asked if he’d heard a single word we’d been saying the last two years. More bluster and bulls~~~ which lead to quite a heated argument at the end of which I was offered my promotion, not for the good work I’d done for the last 5 years, not because I’d earned it but just because they needed me to stay, but despite that need the offer was conditional on my signing a new contract which outside of base pay would have left me worse off in every aspect of my package. I asked for my reference by the end of the week and was gone by the end of the month. Place went bust within a year and it couldn’t have happen to a nicer bunch.
Best advice you can get right there.
Market~~~cher, If you don’t mind, this would be an awesome time to relate your recent employment change to DoubleG. IMHO of course.
It is relevant, Strongly MGTOW and showed that one can beat the odds.

That’s the case with business these days BritGHOW, make the money off the backs of the employees and customers while ensuring that they pay the highest dividends to the investors. I’m sure that your old company filed for bankruptcy, recovered assets, reorganized and is back on the market doing the same crap to a new group of employees.

I’ve seen this a few times at my former workplace, brothers, sisters, cousins, family friends, etc… all get hired over more qualified individuals.
MGTOW is not a movement, it is a way of life.
Good. They can have their nepotism. See how far it gets them when their company starts faltering. Then they wonder why stuff is going into the s~~~ter for them. They will learn who really did the heavy lifting for them.
As for you, onto bigger and better…
Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.
That is fine to be needed were you are, as long as since they recognize it, they give you a raise commensurate with how important it is you stay there and do that important job for them.
We will then see if you really are that important.
Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.
I would debate the 1% “success” chance.
I want to know exactly what they are defining as “success”. People view “success” a lot of different ways and amounts.
Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.

It happens everywhere ! You know what the real problem is ? When they need someone to really solve the problem, they won’t have it. Just expect s~~~ to happen, get a cold beer, and watch things get torn apart.
