If it’s reasonably amicable and there is nothing to divvy up, you could go to a Divorce Center. I was able to do that with my ex…$399 divorce plus a filing fee. We didn’t have s~~~ to split up, other then personal property and we each kept our own vehicles. You can go that route if it is a “non contesting” situation and it’s pretty quick. I was lucky at the time and was able to do it that way.

You are incorrect in stating that you have nothing. Society likes to tell you that you worthless if you have nothing to offer women, and that’s simply untrue. Your worth is so much more than that.

I went thru my first divorce when we were both in our last year of college. We had nothing but a cheap car that was paid for and a second we were still making payments on. Started with lawyers and they royally f~~~ed things up right from the get go. Had us at each other’s throats in no time, with the chargeable hours adding up.

Talked to the soon to be ex with a plan that we get the package of forms which you could buy for your state, and talked to my soon to be ex about doing the divorce our self. She was skeptical. But I showed her my proposal to divide the property and I basically gave her the car and the $400 or so in the bank account. Personal stuff was divided generously in her favor. We hired a legal assistant to help with the paperwork. Judge signed off on it. Done.

My advise is if you two can still talk in a civil way, propose to her a settlement and be generous. Cover the costs of going that way (forms, court filing costs) and you’ll save what the legal bills would be. No kids is a big thing as the court is less interested in dividing property if you have little and there are no kids to consider. So if she accepts, hire a legal assistant and offer to pay for that and the court costs.

Divorce sucks and it can feel like there is nothing left to live for. Far from it brother. You are buying your freedom which means unlike a lot of crap that can happen in life, when you find your way thru this hell, you actually get to something way better. Not all problems in life can you find a way out. This time there is light at the end of the tunnel. Stay strong. Freedom is calling you. Answer the bell.

Sparky, here’s the mental gymnastics I went through. I was married for 4 years and miserable for a good while. I kept telling myself that she’ll change after just a little more counseling. Guess what? She didn’t. I was miserable and she took every chance she could to make it worse. Then, I had a gradual realization. I only have one life on this planet and I do not want to spend it in misery. I’ve worked too damn hard to get where I am to spend it dreading the next interaction with her.

Make yourself a motivational recording on your phone describing what she has done to make you feel this way. Listen to it whenever you feel a moment of weakness or everyday to stay motivated. I spent months after filing for divorce listening to recordings of my STBxW berating and insulting me. It keeps you focused and motivated.

A co-worker recently told me, "If you want to see who someone really is, divorce them." I have found out how true this is. When your wife drops the façade of being the caring partner, you will witness all of the greed, hate, and spite that she has masked. It is truly breathtaking!

You are right but I will still keep Oscar as he is my closest friend. I started getting more work but want more. I wish I could divorce the bitch yesterday but it takes money I do not have. When I get it: I have a roof to fix and I need to get out of debt. If debt is not more important, fixing a roof already leaking is. Am I wrong? Without my home, I will be a vagrant.
