My boys shoot off the clothes pins that hold up targets on a clothes line just to p~~~ me off at 50 yards no scope lol.love them 10/22
I had a thread a couple months back where I questioned the practicality of owning a gun. After reading your collective replies, I actually decided to get one, more out of curiosity and to learn a new skill.
I approached it very carefully and worked with snap caps (fake/dummy bullets) until I was confident in how to handle it, including what to do when a bullet jams, or how to de-c~~~ my gun without firing it, etc.
I find I am neither pro-gun nor anti-gun. A gun is a tool. Just like a table saw, I wanted to learn how to use one properly. I keep it loaded but unfireable in my house for home defense and occasional range shooting. But I don’t hunt, I’m not a police officer, and I’m not in Texas, so it has very little relevance in my life.
Having said that, I pick up my second gun from my local FFL tomorrow.

You’re on the right track my friend. If we had more people like you there would be a lot more understanding of firearms in the good ole US of A. Maybe someday you can come to Texas and take advantage of the hog hunts were you can shoot them from a helicopter and then take the meat home. It’s legal and fun as hell.
Sounds very unique!

Anonymous42The new supersonic .177 air riffles pack a punch! Close rage throat shot be it artery or spine they’re in serious trouble! DO NOT GET ONE OF THESE FOR A KID!

It’s tough in New York. I have a permit and was target shooting the other day on my property. I have a lot of land and never usually a problem. My prop. was stormed by six cops armed and stormed the house. I was in the back, and it was a whole big deal because someone heard faint gun shots. Had my license, permit and everything plus six guns pointed at me. Fun stuff. One was young and shaking a bit. I really thought I was going to be shot; by mistake.
I really need to leave New York.

Fun for pests or cutting coke cans in half, but I’ll stick with my 870 for anything living/breathing and threatening. Just racking it would probably do the trick (but does waste either time or a shell).
Link me to those supersonics you speak of – I have a 1,000fps Gamo, just love air guns. Takes me back.
When the liberals seized control of the Virginia legislature back in the 1980’s, they passed this law called “One-A-Month”.
So that’s what I did for several years…. I purchased one new gun a month. I mean, I didn’t want to be in violation any new state laws.
BTW good ole conservatives have regained control of the state legislature since the 1990’s. We now have “shall issue concealed carry” and “open carry” are both legal. Even in National Parks and some other Federally stolen land here in my home state.
We just need to get rid of the voting illegals and foreigners that have invaded and completely over run Northern Virginia, so we can remove our all too embarrassing senators and governor.
I really need to leave New York.
The SAFE act doesn’t make you feel warm and fuzzy?
Ah yes MGTower!
The old Remington 870 pump Wing Master. An all around outstanding multi-purpose firearm. Nothing gets a home invader running faster than that sound of a live double OO shell being fed from the tubular magazine up into the that 2-3/4″ chamber.
It makes a very distinctive clackity-clack-thung sound which like the smell of Hoppe’s No.9 is instantly recognizable by anyone familiar with guns.
I still have my original that I bought when I was 15 years old at the local hardware store in town. It took me two years worth of f~~~ing snow shoveling and mowing neighbor’s lawns to come up with the whopping sum of $85 new.

Anonymous43I bought a gun the day after getting knocked silly by the c~~~ shoving my own door in my face and the hunting knife she was carrying was stuck into my door. The only thing that saved me was falling behind the door and jamming it up with my body. I had to buy a new door too. C~~~.
Never again, bitch.
lol everyone I meet from the forum is all gunned up…we go shootin!

Quiet! My generation-old Gamo Hunter is as loud as a rimfire. Fun, but not stealthy.

Anonymous11We’re having home invasion robbery issues right now. I’ve a firearm on me at all times. Dr. Mossberg does my talking.

Yeah, this is why it’s always best to keep a low profile. I’m totally on your side, cops abuse their authority and you more than likely had every right to be target shooting on your property, but the reality is we live in more and more of a police state each day. Most police departments feel the constitution doesn’t apply to their own agendas, they violate it grievously every day. You’re lucky the rookie didn’t accidentally pop you, cause you know it would have been justified according to the 5 cop witnesses.
Gun ownership should be about speaking softly, but carrying a big stick.
I was once a great king, I believe you were too. I hope you believe in me, I hope you believe in you.
I may or may not own a gun. It may or may not be registered. I may or may not carry it with me at all times.
That is Freedom. Achieve it gentlemen.
Philosophy, the female repellent
So every once in a while I’ll see a dude with a holstered pistol walking around doing regular guy stuff like pumping gas or whatever. Just a normal day at the office here.
I’m a gun owner but here in Canada the rules make it extremely difficult to legally use a firearm for your own personal security. Guns inside the home must be locked away and kept separate from the ammunition. CCW technically isn’t illegal but authorization is next to impossible to get. You could carry, for example, if your job demands that you work inside a polar bear den. Other than something like that, forget it.
Explain the rational of open carry. I never understood that. Wouldn’t concealed carry make more sense? I mean wouldn’t if be safer if the bad guys didn’t know who was armed? If anybody might be armed, I would think that that would be a more effective crime deterrent.
How is open carry suppose to be safer when anyone with malicious or criminal intent is going to conceal carry anyway???

I like the smell of Hoppe’s No.9 I have a Hoppe’s No.9 air freshener in my car… 😀

Carry them everywhere for defense. Single greatest force multiplier and self defense too ever created. I go nowhere I can’t carry because that usually means only criminals do.
Be professional be polite but always have a plan to kill everyone you meet.

A few years ago there was a huge evacuation due to massive flooding in Calgary Alberta. The RCMP went through vacant homes and confiscated as many firearms as they could find. They said that it was a public safety measure to take any guns ‘left out in the open’. It turns out that ‘left out in the open’ also meant firearms that they found hidden in closets or cabinets and under the stairs in the basement…
