Seriously? Unfireable??? That’s what I call a paperweight.
I have a 38 Special revolver handy in the bedroom, and I carry concealed (yes, with a CCW permit) whenever possible. Trouble is a come-as-you-are party…there’s no telling when or where it’ll crop up.
Specifically:
Mine has a magazine disconnect, so I store it with one in the chamber and a loaded magazine nearby but discreetly out of sight. This solves any issues of neighborhood kids finding it and causing a problem, and makes sure if I load it to shoot I am doing so intentionally."Once you’ve taken care of the basics, there’s very little in this world for which your life is worth deferring." -David Hansson. "It’s not when women are mean or nasty that anything is out of the ordinary. It’s when they are NICE to you that you have to be on high alert..." -Jackinov.

HOWEVER, in real life situations, you will likely have to react within split seconds to defend yourself, and having to take the extra steps to load a mag, rack the side, thumb the safety, open a safe, etc will greatly reduce the chances of you successfully defending yourself. Quick video below.
I’m not really sure why a neighborhood kid would find it unless they’re breaking into your house or something. Do you invite the kids in? If so, maybe teach them something about guns and gun safety.
Try this, have a friend set your phone alarm at a random date and time, say somewhere between 2AM and 6AM. As soon as you hear the alarm go off, your job is to make your gun ready for combat. Once abruptly awakened from slumber, see how quickly you can grab your gun, find the mag, load it, and thumb the safety off. Then point it in a direction a home invader might be.

I approach gun ownership by deciding which one I want to buy and deciding if it will fit in my safe.
The person your mother warned you about
I don’t need a gun.

The worth of a man isn't the usefulness that women get from him. Avoiding living with a woman, a man isn't rejecting a lot of sex: he's rejecting sexual starvation. I would like to have a gun but for several reasons it’s not wise for me to own one at this time. But as soon as that changes, I intend to get one. Very important to be able to protect one’s self and others.

Hey no worries then. You probably don’t have the feature, I don’t. Look next weekend we’ll get you set up with the chat deal that we talked about a couple of weeks ago. That is if you haven’t been joining in already.
Sounds good, thanks!
The Finnish Mosin in my profile pic should speak for itself.
Walter PPK and Gewehr 98 here. Maybe some day I will buy a nice .357 but at the moment I am better armed than 99% of my fellow Germans.
Additionally I have two crossbows (Scorpyd Ventilator Extreme and STS AR-480MKII). It can penetrate things both firearms cannot, like ballistic vests or sand bags and there are things the crossbows cannot penetrate, like steel plates. Additionally it’s very quiet.
"I need men, real men, men with balls, certainly not sissies. I would never ask them to take an enemy position, but I insist that they follow me to that position. If you are one of those men, raise your hand." Napoleon Bonaparte
I have:
Guns for Hunting
Guns for Self Defense
Guns for Target Shooting
Guns for Collecting PurposesThe way I approach Gun Ownership is that a Gun is a Tool that needs to be handled in a safe manner as prescribed by the Late Col. Cooper. Just as we need more than one screwdriver in our tool box, we need more than one gun in our possession. Different guns, in different calibers do different things well. Guns are also highly sought after by Criminals who like to steal them, and sell them on the black market.
Psychologically the day I became a gun owner, was the day I realized that I am forced to live in a very responsible manner and be in control of my temper. Fortunately when I get angry I don’t even think about a gun. It also meant that if young kids or older kids who are untrained in gun safety; are coming over to my house, that my weapons need to be unloaded and secured.
Being a gun owner and being a Jew makes me extremely wary when I am around people who advocate for more gun control laws which invariably ends up being a prerequisite to confiscation. The gun control laws that the German Weimar Republic enacted and the laws that the UK enacted (and Australia and Canada) took many years until the country reached the point where it started to confiscate guns. In Germany the Gun Control laws were specifically targeted at Jews who were disarmed and later rounded up and herded off to Death and/or Concentration Camps to be slaughtered.
In short: Free Men own Guns. Slaves don’t.
