I had same feelings when I was young. Punch in gut is such a good description .. I used to think of it as being hit in head by baseball bat from behind.

I found no solution for the gut wrenching feelings of caring for someone and then having to think heavy thoughts about their past or even current lifestyle. The only way for me was to chuck the whole thing and find new life interests.. which I have.

Don’t necessarily do as I do or live as I do .. and this is not advice .. but my life is decent now without relationships. I won’t ever try and care again because it hurts too much and I no longer have the time or emotional energy to handle a relationship. jmho.
