Good to be here. It’s like you’ve had the sneaking suspicion there’s been people who share your values and you happen to walk in to the same bar.

I’ve experienced life and love to be what you make of it and I’m the type of person to try anything once but what has got me posting is the realization that my motivation level, patience and tolerance has all decreased with age; a fact that I assumed would head in the opposite direction. Mostly I’m disgusted with society and fed up with people’s opinions.

Unfortunately for anyone in my family and close circle, which now comprises almost no one, this means I’ve withdrawn from most forms of communication.

Brothers, I have not crossed the threshold of being content with this yet, despite the fact that I hold my independence with high regard, I can’t help but feel the dysfunction of the reality and yearn for a solution. Surely, becoming a hermit is not the answer- yet Dick Proenneke seemed to think it is.

Yes the dysfunction in our society is widespread. My solution is to observe more & participate less. My ideal would be a monk hermit, but that’s impossible for me so I am a urban hermit & maintain as low a profile as possible

In general I started to question my decisions in my 20s. I didn’t have a male role model or father figure so a lot of my realizations were earned the hard way. I married a girl I met while in the military and as soon as I came to my senses and was ready to bail she told me she was pregnant. I believe choice is important but I couldn’t pull the trigger and had a child with a woman who I knew was a complete failure at being a wife and mother. Fast forward- she self destructed as I knew she would and she tried to bring me down with her unsuccessfully. She tried countless times to take custody and after that failed she stopped pretending to be the piece of s~~~ she was. I ended up with full custody and she disappeared; raising my child solo.

College degree
Holding it all up alone.

Ive been checking out some more threads and found the concept of No Fap. Truly this was a completely foreign idea to me but decided to jump right in and if I’m honest doing it with the correct mind frame is empowering. I’ve already reclaimed energy and not even past the first week.

Unlike a lot of you smarter and wiser types I am late to the party but holy s~~~ I’ve got some catching up to do.

Welcome sir! I surely do understand the message you are sending. I have found that a ‘zero-f~~~s-given’ attitude works for me. It is WAY too much work to try and make everyone like me, so, take me as I am, …. or not.

Dido, Sir. I am sure you’d think I live the life of a hermit. I live in the mountains and forest, and spend over 90% of my day doing art and writing. I love it though. I wouldn’t live any other way. Good to see you guys and thanks for participating in my thread. I never know if I come across stand offish but it doesn’t seem like I’ll have that problem here. It’s so good to see that folks share my values I was beginning to think the was something wrong with wanting to go hermit. But now I just see it’s conditioning that has enslaved so many “men” into believing service to a woman is the most noble cause and defining feature of manhood. I say good riddance.
