I don’t think this is news or a surprise. Haven’t we been saying for months this would be a grrlll power s~~~ show? That she would be wiping the floor with everybody?

Luke had to go through difficult training and still got his ass handed to him by Vader. Now, this nobody with no training is going be on equal ground with a trained sith?

I’m seriously considering not going to the damn movie now.

Well to be fair. Vader, as Anakin trained to be a Jedi for years. While Yoda give Luke a crash course on the force and lightsaber combat. Honestly, I am surprised that Luke did as well as he did against Vader in both Cloud City and the Second Death Star, against his father.

And even Yoda stated that Anakin, an older child at the time, was too old to be trained as a Jedi. With most Jedi (at that time) beginning their training around the time they learn to walk.

After thinking about this. My further thoughts on this is that it is reported that Kylo Ren is not that well trained in the force, nor lightsaber combat. So, the fight scene in question could be amateur hour with lightsabers.

From the film’s stand point, it has been around 80 years since Vader destroyed the Jedi Order, and it is clear that when it comes to knowledge of the force and lightsaber combat, that the galaxy has slipped into a dark age.

Well, ha ha, just to tell how much I care, I only learned earlier today that Lucas wasn’t involved. That settled it right then. No Lucas no Star Wars!
I’m gonna just wait ’til it goes on DVD and watch it for free at some woman’s house, f~~~ it.
My next movie going experience will be Star Strek Beyond. It’s already in post-production.

Thus far what we see in combat with ranged weapons suggests that things won’t be much better then.

We’re a sexually dimorphous species. Women are smaller, weaker, and not as smart. Socialist propaganda doesn’t change this.

The prequels were pretty awful. Redlettermedia.com does a good job analyzing why they were awful. Disney’s ownership does not suggest a realistically violent movie with moments for post-viewing introspection. Abrams as director suggests lots of kabooms! and kabangs! and mindless crap on-screen.

I’m picturing a used DVD at $8.95 in about six months. Probably worth about half that.

That is not how Star Wars could break the big mouse. This company likes to control what fans can do with their products. Next to Star Trek, Star Wars has some of the most rabid fans out there. And they are literally LEGION. Everyone has seen the movies. And I mean EVERYONE!

Mister Lucas realizes this. He was laughing all the way to the bank after he sold the franchise.

If that company decides to try to control the fans, and what the fans create, the fans will boycott them at a level the company has never seen before.

And many of the fans are crazy, with a capital C. If the mouse doesn’t sell a replica of Vader’s deformed, burnt helmet, someone else will. And that will be a top seller. Which is both creepy and disturbing. But, that is likely what would happen.

If the movie is as we say, it will split the fan base worse than it already is. Add in that the theatrical cuts of the original are still not remastered on Blu-Ray. This will drive me away. However, will it matter? Do we even matter anymore?

I don’t see their new audience buying the tons of crap in which the films really made their money. Sure, some stickers for the car, maybe the occasional toy . . . but the old audience was into stuff and toys (because engineers enjoy made objects, which is why we don’t all die in our thirties and live in mud huts). I don’t see young girls buying the toys that the films will logically produce. Unless they go with clothing from it? But there’s no way to trademark a kimono or robe. I think Disney overpaid for these rights, but time will tell, and I’m the worst test market on earth.

I see the old school fans drifting away. I’m not entirely convinced Lucas really understood these films, as the originals were a group creation as much as they were his, his bulls~~~ to the contrary.

I see these as probably more tightly scripted and better shot than the prequels, but with worse CGI and production values. Bitch though one may, the prequels did set the stage for every film afterwards for CGI. Not that every film afterwards needed CGI. I also see Disney as less monomaniacal than is Lucas. Say what you like, the f~~~er had a vision and stuck with it. An awful, awful vision, but . . . I see these as committee projects, and I cannot for the life of me figure out any good reasons they’re already shopping for directors for No. 2 (or 8, or whatever the f~~~).

I’m numb to swordfights that aren’t, that have no internal rules, logic, or physics. If everyone can just break even the movie’s f~~~ing reality whenever they want, then the fights have no importance whatever. I thought it was awesome that they killed Liam Neeson in the first film . . . but then everyone survives impossible s~~~ for the next three films, so it’s import was lost. It’s why I like Game of Thrones. In actual wars, people actually die. Even main characters.
