It’s been 3 years since I had a physical – late forties.
I was in decent shape last time, but over the past 3 years I’ve not let the shrew kill my mood and mojo and shifted my focus from being a slave to her and the house to taking care of myself.
Started running more (did my first Ultra Marathon a few months ago), continue to lift and added mountain biking to the regimen.
The Dr. said he couldn’t tell me a single thing to do except make sure I wear my seatbelt!
I plan on training hard for something epic and spending less and less time with her until I can get her ass out of my house and life. I’m focusing on ME and she can suck it. I sacrificed enough for her selfish ass.

That sort of attitude on self-improvement is bound to make her suck it.
Don’t stay though.
LOL…She is going to get the tingles soon…Keep it up CombatRoll, you need to have good health to enjoy the rest of your life…

My Doc is an old Army doc. While doing the finger deed he said, “I can tell you’ve never been to San Francisco”.

Damn ultra marathons that’s f~~~ing hardcore!
You following any particular weightlifting program?
Sounds like a Tough Mudder, Spartan and/or Toughruck is in your future. Congratulations on a job well done.

My doctor told me I only had six months to live. I didn’t pay his bill and he gave me another six months(nyuk, nyuk, nyuk).

Anonymous14I would advise against the ultra-marathons. It will only wear you out much sooner than less aggressive forms of exercise, even long distance biking is far easier on your body… that is if you don’t crash.

Your life expectancy has just increased.

I’ve been lifting weights since college – so I’ve shifted from the heavy /low reps concentration (although I still mix that in) to more circuit high intensity type. This leaned me out. I don’t ever want to look like a Kenyan – all dried up and skinny. Trail runners typically don’t have that scrawny build.

Thanks – I went through my Spartan/Mud Run phase in 2011-2013.

I run 90+% on trails – so I don’t get that redundant pounding on my joints as bad. I also Mt Bike – but I hate road biking and our roads are not conducive to it.
You are doing good bro…
I found when you sit on your couch gaining 10 pounds a year for years on end, your health spiraling downward, no one has advice or concern for you, but you get yourself in shape and are more active and fit than nearly everyone you know and suddenly they are all health experts warning you about how unhealthy your diet and workouts are.Do your thing man!
You ever read “finding ultra”? or Scott Jurek’s book?
I am not sure if they would be your cup of tea, but you might find them interesting, or you might not. lol
I enjoyed them.
“Born to run” might be more your cup of tea. It is a pretty good read.Oh, one more thing… I think trying to run on softer surfaces than asphalt or concrete is a wise choice. I run on dirt, sand, fine gravel etc instead of the road or sidewalk every chance I get.
I would guess only about 30% of my running is on asphalt, and I would get it down to maybe 10% if I could. (some pounding is good for the bones as it causes them to strengthen and remain strong.)It’s been 3 years since I had a physical – late forties.

You go bro !! Ultra marathon. Huge respect !! Eat and run another Scott Jurek classic.
Peace is > piece.
That’s the right thing to do bro !
Your body and your mind are your only true properties, everything else a c~~~ or the government can take from you. But what you are, they can’t !
In your 60 and 70, you will see the results of keep working out and preparing your body ! You will be 60s, looking like 40s, while c~~~s with 25, will look almost your age, but physically they ain’t even capable of running 3kms !
I’m really happy for you brother ! I recently started to run too, it feels really good when you can accomplish each kilometer ! And to run a marathon is extremely impressive ! Congratulations brother, you should feel really proud of your hard work !
Outstanding! I go in for my 2 year DOT physical in a couple months. I’ve lost 35 lbs since my last one. I’m in my late thirties and very close to my high school graduation weight.
Be careful though, NerdTunneler is right. Tingles are coming, hahaha
