    @itsalbs

great find on that video with the police officer trying to abuse her powers and then the guy quite correctly points out the legal position. Then she tries to interpret it as a threat and then they appear to call a solicitor and ask for legal advice on PACE

Priceless. Loved seeing that uppity police officer put in her place and back down

Add it to the database, yet more evidence of the Government and police persecuting men

Operation Squirrel Catcher is overflowing with evidence. I bet the femstoppo are having nightmares

Bodycam and dash cam up guys, the party is getting started. Let’s fight this with truth and evidence

Why do they remove already seated passengers if they’ve overbooked?

Why don’t they simply not allow anyone more onto the plane once all the seats are full?

Who was seated in this man’s seat when the plane took off, and why were they so much more privileged than him to get it?

This is why I hate flying and why I will now NEVER fly United. F~~~ them and f~~~ their “friendly skies”.

Why do they remove already seated passengers if they’ve overbooked?

If I remember correctly, in the days before ticketless travel, you had to check in at the gate to get your ticket. In that way, they would know if they were overbooked before they board, and wouldn’t start boarding till they had the issue resolved.

But still, it seems like there is an easy solution to this. Sure, go ahead an overbook to make sure your plan is full, but have the last buyer’s tickets sold with the contingency that they will not be on the plan if no other passengers cancel. Reserve 4 seats for your own people if you need to, and sell with the same contingency.

Seriously, how hard is this, particularly when people select their seats in advance?

    Ok. Then do it.

That is some messed up s~~~ right there. I hope UA pays through the nose and everyone involved in that mess gets fired.

Oh, and it’s been said already, but don’t fly.

Trust me, there already is a long line of attorneys lined up to file a lawsuit for this guy.

"Women are directly adapted to act as the nurses and educators of our early childhood, for the simple reason that they themselves are childish, foolish, and short-sighted—in a word, are big children all their lives, something intermediate between the child and the man, who is a man in the strict sense of the word. Consider how a young girl will toy day after day with a child, dance with it and sing to it; and then consider what a man, with the very best intentions in the world, could do in her place.” Quote from Arthur Shopenhauer, 17th century philosopher

Something is not quite right with this story.

Police officers are there to enforce laws, not deal with over seating issues. The airline will offer free tickets, free hotel rooms and meal vouchers etc. Normally several people clamor to get the prizes. They don’t just haul people off by force, and the police don’t do it for them.
Either they told the police the people were a threat or something…

I am not taking a side here, or backing the airlines/police. But things don’t work like this. I am just saying there is an element to this story beyond what they are reporting. Either that or we truly are entering the twilight zone where anything goes.

The lucky guy can retire early now. He’ll be very very rich soon
United offered $800 voucher and nobody agreed. They should have kept going. Even if they gave $1mil voucher out for a seat – it would had still been cheaper for them. Now they’re on the path of losing billions with a B

Hmmm, I wish that were me. I could use an extra few hundred thousand dollars. If it were me I’m sure I would have injured my spine while being dragged off which would interfere with all of my future income.

Let’s see 300K times 20 years equals 6 mill. They would be lucky to get away with 600K payoff and medical bills so I “might” be able to return to work.

And, I’d want to see the policy changed to accomidate (sp?) people with important jobs that peoples lives depend on.

I bet he gets something like 100 million dollars if it goes to jury trial.

Police get involved in f~~~ing everything. We live in a police state. There’s nothing they can’t and won’t do.

I know that sounds all cool and all, but it simply is not true, and you are smart enough to know it.
There is more to this story that what they are reporting. The only way the police would get involved in an over booking situation is if the flight crew reported there was a threat against their safety. Either that or they will all be fired immediately, and their will be a huge lawsuit against the department.
You can believe me or not, but this isn’t idle speculation on my part.

“Hello, yes this is united we overbooked a flight and we want to remove some people from the plane forcibly. Can you come down to gate 13A immediately?”

Does not get a Law enforcement response, unless something has happened and the entire system has collapsed.

I know that sounds all cool and all, but it simply is not true.

Not that I intend to spend a ton of time trying to convince you, but just out of curiosity, what would it take? I’ve read hundreds of stories of cops going way out of their boundaries and getting involved in matters that don’t concern them. Is there more to all those stories too, or are they just anomalies?

Are there individual abuses, sure. But not in a setting like this, on a full scale. To even get the POLICE to show up some sort of reasonable probable cause has to be present. “We asked a man to deboard and he threatened to kill us all!” or “He is trying to start a riot” or “he told us if we remove him his bomb would go off” would do the trick. Simply overbooking resolution would not.

The police who do the things you are ascribing, either know things that you do not about what constitutes reasonable suspicion or probable cause, which each allows a different level of contact, or are acting ignorant of it, or thinking the person will not legally pursue it afterward. Some might write up a false statement afterward “I smelled marijuana coming from his person” or in most cases real statements “the flight attendant informed me he had threatened to kill her”.

In a situation where there are over 100 people as witnesses a false statement is going to be pretty hard.
But in no situation, except maybe where the police officers are begging to be fired and sued, or extreme lack of training.competence would they board an aircraft and handle a simple over booking problem for the airline. The gate agents do that.

I would guess he threatened the gate agents or something along those lines.

That doesn’t mean the police officers reacted 100% correctly. I have no clue on that. I am just saying there is more to this than what they are telling right now.
Surely you know this, and know how the MSM works. This is probably part of their BLM anti police narrative push.
