Hello and good morning Gents.

Technicians were in touch about severe site slow-downs and we noticed a couple of threads causing severe load times. Some of them had a mile long series of junk media ( large animated blue rings?? ) which were 1MB each and the pages were taking forever to load. Does anyone know if this was done on purpose as some kind of malicious intent? It makes our work extremely difficult when pulling the site down to perform updates. Have not looked into the context or WHY it was done.

Also noticed SKy-O mentioned the thread “Yo Gargamel” was freezing up so that is removed too.

We don’t want to arbitrarily delete anything, but when the site is choking we have to fix it.

If you notice any others causing performance issues, please post a link below so we can take care of it.

We have been launching 2 other (unrelated) major projects and have been on hugely strict deadlines before holiday season kicks in and everyone starts to wind down this time of year. FYI I’ll be here tomorrow late evening overseeing a small maintenance phase….. and pushing some core updates. And in-and-out again every day this week. After the 15th, we’re going hard core on MGTOW.com for a couple of weeks and full-time throughout December.

We’ve automated a few important member features which will be pushed (with info posted to the contact page) and that will be restored first thing.

There has been alot of maliscious intent going on in the forums.

A major mutiny was in progress at one point, spanning a period of 4-5 weeks.

Accusations of there being some kind of conspiracy in progress.

The posting of hundreds of pictures of cats & kittens. (Almost every known breed of cat was posted)

General, all purpose insanity & chaos took over.

An in depth look at certain topics and posts if you have time will reveal the instigators and perpetrators.

There is no conspiracy. As a matter of fact… a VERY important positive development occurred in late August/September where our work was needed “for a good cause” elsewhere. Been dealing with a massive deadline and we’re ahead of schedule on that.

We always work on MGTOW.com off-site before anything goes “live”. We pulled the database down to work on it and there was suddenly a BIG error in posts which were cause an import problem. It seems to be OK though. Haven’t had a close look yet, but I think we found it’s just a few bottleneck threads.

This remains to be seen and will know tomorrow. ( Worst case, we revert to the most recent stable backup. ) Right now everything looks fine.

Great news. thanks for the update KM. Yeah, there’s been some f~~~ery about here, some asshole by the login of meow mix constantly trolling up the place with cat pics. I think that got shut down or he got bored or whatever, but as things go, the place is still here, the Doors are still on the hinges, the roof is still keeping the water out and the fridge works. We’ll see you tomorrow I guess, and happy Veteran’s day to you too.

Easily handled by blocking the media source on the client side if only people are wiling to be a little more proactive in their browsing.

That being said, with all the malicious (and childish) bulls~~~ going down here for the last couple of months, I have to say I have my doubts about this actually being KM.

OK thanks. “Meow Mix” is Gargamel. He was disgruntled because he sent a request(s) to cancel his subscription . . . but his subscription was started with an OLDER EMAIL – so there was no way to know or cancel it for him until we figured that out. Then we took care of it right away. It has now been cancelled and he has been notified twice.

FYI, anyone else who wrote to cancel their subscriptions have now been honored – and notified – with at least 3 retroactive refunds as well. We are very grateful for all those who supported. NO judgement. Nobody has been downgraded. I will wait to hear back from Gargamel / MeowMix to be sure he received the note.

( ALL have been responded to – and confirmed – going back several months. Some time between now and Thanksgiving weekend, members with active subscriptions will be able to cancel it themselves. Otherwise if anyone with an active subscription writes to us ( hello @ mgtow . com) and request it, we will honor it no problem. )

We have automated some of the member features – including the ability to cancel your own account. For anyone who wants to, please be aware – unlike some social media sites – the decision is PERMANENT and not reversible. You can visit the account page and “delete my account” should be available. Automating this was of the utmost importance. The feature is new, and you guys should be able to delete yourselves if you want.

Yes!! It’s a full featured crypto information site! And we were just working on adding Bitcoin ATM locators…. where you can see locations of “Bitcoin/Crypto ATMS near you”. Extremely cool!! At the moment, the site is live and launched. We are leaving it “running” for now and not really “marketing” it. To do speed & load testing and all that stuff. UNRELATED:

The last major detour I had (the reason I have not been here) was because a new major development took place in late August.

We bought an important domain for a new BIG project.
Acquiring it was going to be the deciding factor(!!!) Based our whole “business plan” related to work.
We purchased the domain at auction.(in late June.)
The “seller” somehow disappeared off the face of the Earth and we didn’t get it!
I was p~~~ed.
The domain auction house refunded us for it and we thought we lost it for good.
Somehow domain was not renewed and went into “expiry”…. as if the owner died or something.
Then after a while the domain was released publicly and we grabbed it within 3 minutes once it was released.
THEN WE GOT IT!!! Seriously. It was a miracle.

Once we got it, we had to put 100% focus in it – and “rebrand” the entire project for that domain . because it needs to go live BEFORE the end of the year. Anyway, it was extremely important.

Disgruntled doesn’t begin to describe his mental state. Or, more importantly, his actions and behavior.

And he wasn’t the only one, though certainly one of the worst.

I think the situation calls for a little more than just cancellation. Some accounts need to be pruned, and by pruned I mean hellbanned at the least, if not completely A-blocked and fingerprint locked.

When the privilege of using the site has been this badly abused, that privilege needs to be revoked.

A site security audit is also very much called for. Things need to be tightened up.

Well, we have now we made the “delete my account” feature available to all.
( RHETORICAL: Was he lashing out because he couldn’t do it himself? )

Problem is we get about 3 delete requests a month – which is nothing. Even still, many change their minds within a couple of days and they cancel their cancel requests. Happens all the time. This is difficult for us to keep track of manually and we don’t want to delete by mistake(!). So it’s best if we leave it up to the individual member.

A broadcast notice has been posted about this just now – clearly indicating that its not reversible. It should do well to eliminate any frustrations anyone has about not being able to cancel if they really want to.

All these member features needed be automated and more manageable by the members themselves. Very shortly, we’ll be adding the ability for any profile with an open subscription to cancel that too…. or upgrade themselves…. or even pause it themselves. This requires fancy/remote API integration, but it’s already tested and done. We just have to implement it and that will reduce the number of contact requests that require a human to handle.

We have already planned this anyway. On Wednesday, I will log in as a “non-admin moderator” and see what privs the role has. They may have “too much power”. Meaning . . . . deleting a thread (or posts) would not be as effective as, say, making a troll a “spectator”. Changing the role temporarily may be better.

A button would be available on every profile. If ,say, 10 assigned members click that button, the member is now a spectator until moderation can be done. I’ll figure something out by Wednesday afternoon. I’ll post a thread on this then.

Well, the site was running pretty slow and seems to be a little better now. Unfortunately, if you start digging into it, you’ll find quite a bit of s~~~ that needs cleaning out.
