What are good forums karma and does anyone know whats been added to the membership page as the popup message indicated? “for members with “good” forums karma”

Just wondering…

P.S. I was hoping the picture posting abilities came back, but still the same; “Cancel my subscription, Delete my profile, Have any questions?”, and nothing else.

Good questions. I can only guess that good forums
Karma is the known harassment of the lurkers
and newbies so as to check the thickness of their
skin and the built in funny buttons for booting
tuna and the like when they fail to expose enough
about themselves before making stupid statements
and tossing out shaming language. We do like to shoot
some insults around. I say it is necessary and expected
among men. like me saying: “I may not see you again before mating season so ill say F~~~ you ahead of time.” I love the way some on here talk to each other

I was bound to be misunderstood, and I laugh at those who misunderstand me. Kind mockery at the well intentioned, but unfettered cruelty towards those would be prison guards of my creative possibilities. This so as to learn as much from misunderstanding as from understanding. Taking pleasure in worthy opponents and making language fluid and flowing like a river yet pointed and precise as a dagger. Some time ago, a few members had reported they appeared to be logged out at random, but when clicking around, they weren’t really. Like an anomaly on certain pages. So last week we re-implemented a “session killer” that ends a visit after 48 hours if you didn’t log out.

The rule is… “if you stay logged in for 48 hours, your visit will expire, and you should log in again.”

A bank website usually kills a visit within 15 minutes. Ours is a very relaxed 48 hours. Just to make sure sessions don’t last forever. It’s a good practice.

So if any long time established members have seen no difference, please leave a short reply below. Would like to know if the weird thing is still happening. Thank you.

OK First of all. Welcome to new members. +30K came sooner than expected. Wow. A pleasure to welcome you. This FYI is for all. No replies to this are required or expected, and it will be removed after Monday.

THE CONTACT PAGE

The contact form is temporarily unavailable and may come back intermittently for the rest of the day until we solve a problem. Recent use by spammers have flooded our mailbox with these stupid random emails…. and we require some time to sift through them to find the legit ones. Any recent messages by members & visitors will be addressed going back to Feb 1 ( those we missed ) and then we will sort through all messages prior to that. We require a few hours – maybe even going into tomorrow. Priority will be given to support requests first…… then new members….. and everyone else. Thanks very much.

We kindly ask for patience on this because we are limited to available time. I’ll be dedicating the whole weekend to this myself, but I will be taking healthy breaks to go about my life.

THE NEW SMS ALERTS FEATURE

This works great(!) and thanks for the few who have used it. Received them right away , although may have been on the road or in meetings at the time. A few need to be addressed – like one from Gargamel and a couple of others, but you should know it’s working.

Will be incorporating the email alerts (which you are used to using) into it as well. Then members can decide the level of urgency. This will be made very clear, and further finessed. More on this before the weekend is out.

Use the SMS feature ( in the forums sidebar on the right) for any urgent problem this weekend which requires immediate attention.

LOCKOUTS

As a security precaution, we have a feature in place that detects unsuccessful login attempts. Five unsuccessful attempts made too quickly can result in a temporary block for one hour. In most cases, you can try again an hour later.

This does a great job of stopping bots and belligerent traffic, but new members need to know it’s not really a problem when this happens. We clear and lift all blocks about 1-3 times a week anyway.

• Generally try to avoid any drama, but it’s unfortunate that @MisandryToday was (is temporarily? ) suspended from twitter. Not aware of the details.

• Have some hilarious news for gents in the Zoom and plan to join this evening at 11PM EST.

As I understand it, members with over 2,000 stars will be given access to a notification button for purging trolls. The notification button will be on the troll’s membership page, and it will notify KM via SMS.

In other words, it’s basically it’s a hot-line to KM (or other admins) to notify him of trolls, but it can only be used by members with 2,000 stars or more.

That’s how I understood it. But I may have it wrong. I have less than 2,000 stars, so I don’t have access to it.

At the end of the message it talks about “problematic trolls & unnecessary friction etc.” So maybe it could be used for other types of p~~~ing contests as well. I guess it’s up to the “elite” members to know when to use it.

It is nice to see that this has been implemented. Great work Keymaster. I’m a bit surprised by the choice of such a low number of stars required though! 2000 is not much, I have seen many that had managed to build up to close to 5000 and had to be ejected because of real nasty behavior. Of course the admins could at any given moment decide to increase that number. It is awesome to see the site growing and keeping it in the same great spirit.

Oh f~~~! I see what he meant! My mistake! I see! He put the “s~~~head alert” button on any given member’s page while “being viewed by another member”. I live in a condemned family campground, mistakes like this can be expected of me when I comes to articles of organization and built in discrimination with inequity becoming the law of the land.

Oh well, I guess that I am not part of group of men on the MGTOW Forums that has ‘Good Forums Karma’, because I only have a 1595-star rating, eventhough I consider myself to be a very balanced/respectful/responsible member/poster here. The way that this kind of ‘feature’ has been implemented will stratify the members on here and I was led to believe that such a practice went against the principles of MGTOW. I thought that all MGTOWs and MGTOW Forums members should be treated equally; but obviously not, it seems. It is not even clear from the feature anouncement why this feature has been implemented and what its actual goal/purpose is. I like coming on here, contributing, discussing stuff, and guiding others; but I refuse to be treated like a second-class member, just because my star rating on the MGTOW Forums is less than some arbitrarily-decided value. I think that KeyMaster does a fantastic job with this web-site, but I think that he has dropped a big bollock with the way that this feature has been implemented, which I think will annoy some guys and possibly cause them to leave. Anyway, it is KeyMaster’s show…

I know that I will get flack for this response, but what the hell, we’re all big boys on here, and I am entitled to my say, whether or not people agree with my opinion.

I agree, it’s a little weird that having lots of stars suddenly gives people special powers. Up till now, the stars were just there for “bragging rights” (as far as I know).

On the other hand, I think it’s fair to distinguish between long-time members versus relative newbies. With this new function, Keymaster basically appears to be enlisting long-time members to act as assistant moderators and is giving them instant access to his “home phone.” I can understand if he doesn’t want to give that kind of power to n00bs.
