But the warmistas aren’t spending megabucks to protect their interests? Money involuntarily taken from taxpayers, at that? Money they’d dry up and blow away without, were the government spigot shut off? Get serious.
Technical means “based on a required technique or techniques.” Science is defined by the techniques it requires: objectively verifiable and reproducible data, reproducible experiments with specified outcomes, and the falsifiability-by-experiment of the relevant theses. Science lives by the iron law that a single failure of prediction invalidates a proposed theory no matter how many confirmations it previously received.
My specialty, when I was in physics, was hydrodynamics: the laws that determine the motions of fluids under various kinds of external stress. I know what science consists of — and the blog post I cited is based on my own, hard-won knowledge of what constitutes good science: respect for measurement and the limits of precision, minimization of data heterogeneity, the requirement that a theory be confirmed by predictions, and the ultimate, all-encompassing rule that there are no unquestionable authorities and no final, unquestionable answers.
Sir Karl Popper observed that intellectual honesty demands that a theory, to be scientific in nature, must be falsifiable. That is: It must be possible to design and conduct an experiment with:
- An objective context, that can be reproduced by any interested party;
- A defined stimulus, also reproducible within the relevant context;
- An outcome predicted by the theory, specified in magnitude, direction, and time of occurrence.
Any outcome that deviates from the predicted outcome by more than the limits of measurement precision is an invalidating outcome: it invalidates the theory, which must be discarded in favor of a new candidate. The great, besetting faults of the “anthropogenic global warming” theory are two:
- First, it cannot, by its very nature, design, much less conduct, a reproducible experiment: i.e., an experiment on the Earth’s atmosphere;
- Second, it refuses to accept that there could be any event, in any context, that would constitute an invalidating outcome.
Therefore, the “anthropogenic global warming” theory is itself a non-scientific claim. It fails all the requirements — i.e., the mandatory techniques — of the sciences. Its attitude toward dissenters makes it something even worse: an intolerant, even militant article of faith.
I’m taking this much time and trouble with you on the assumption that you’re educable. Here’s your chance to prove me correct — or not. But I have no tolerance for insult and slander; any repetition will cause me to dismiss you permanently as beyond help. So the next time you start claiming “that isn’t technical,” remember what I wrote here. And the next time you dismiss someone else’s statements as “Republican bulls~~~,” beware. Not only do I have my limit, not everyone you might abuse is as sweet-tempered as I am.
I’m not abusing, nor am I worried about what someone would say to me in a post. I’ve heard a lot worse. I was just telling people to think for themselves, as many of the links had an obvious right wing bias. But we both agree on the Al Gore hysterics, I tend to look carefully at any alarmist type data or whatever pretty carefully.
I did misread your blog post, it was for the hystericals. Like I said, the much bigger issue is global pollution. Google Chinese E waste disposal. Some scary stuff. I think the global warming thing is mostly dead, it’s more climate change now, from the evidence I’ve seen. Ironically, CO2 is great for a lot of applications, supercritical fluids, dry cleaning, industrial solvents, ect.
I’m currently taking a break from school, I have PTSD issues that don’t let me attend straight through, so I take a break and go live in the woods. So the environment is a topic pretty close to me. I see ugly construction projects and strip mines destroying beautiful forests, it’s pretty sad. People don’t understand that consumption doesn’t lead to happiness. Owning things means nothing, and almost everyone I met owns way too much. The fatbag capitalists have lied to us, and made us feel that we have to define ourselves by the things we buy and try to turn people into mindless, spending drones.
The first thing women ask me for the most part is what I do, as if my job defines me as a person. Women seem far more materialistic than men, but men are pretty bad too. We have to constantly fight this struggle to not buy things. Minimalism is the future. Hard for everyone to own everything they want when there are 10 billion people on the planet or more. It’s supposed to hit that around 2055 or so.

so I take a break and go live in the woods
I don’t want to change the direction of the thread. However, I am planning on moving into the wilderness, at least for a brief period of time.
My issue is finding a place. The last thing I want is to be halfway through building a small cabin only to be forced off by law enforcement or the natives. Chopping down a tree is not the most quiet activity, I know because I have chopped down alot.
Could you start a seperate thread and explain how and where you do this. As I said my main concern is finding the right wilderness. I would appreciate any information you could provide.
I’m going to be hiking and living along the Appalachian Trail, not wilderness homesteading. Different activity. There are various land places available cheap, close to small towns in the mountains. I wouldn’t build anything anywhere you didn’t own the land, it’ll get taken away.
I’m basically gonna be homeless and backpacking the trail and side trails, exploring. There is a lot of civil war history and revolutionary war stuff up north that I want to explore. I’ll take odd jobs, ect as needed in towns. I’m pretty handy with tools, and have done construction, renovation, and other random jobs over the years. I’ve heard of people bartering on the trail, I had a friend that traded some work to an outfitter in exchange for some gear he needed, fixed his roof and some random things the guy needed done around the store. It was a fair trade. I’ve worked up north a couple of days for an old hippie couple, some landscaping stuff and helped the guy finish a deck. In exchange, they cooked me delicious homecooked meals, gave me beer, and let me wash clothes and stuff.
Most people out there are great people, just be polite. For me, if I am still out there when I start running out of money, I will ask around. Already have a couple of prospects related to hiking, but I’ll get to know people in towns, kinda network things for later, offer to help even if I don’t need the money at the moment, if someone has a random job needs doing. I’ve had people give me food before as well, too much for them to carry, or a church group in the town I was in had cooked too much or something. I was always thankful to them and offered to help clean up or anything else that needed to be done.
Wasn’t going to start a thread, because not many people could fit everything they own into a backpack and just hit the trail for months at a time. It’s just a different lifestyle. I never wanted marriage, a house, the standard 9 to 5, ect. In exchange for the freedom, I have to put up with bugs, cold weather, and such. There is always a tradeoff.
If you are interested in some of the skills I found important, you can check out bushcrafting, wilderness homesteading, some of the survival stuff, starting fires in bad conditions, things like that. There won’t be a lot of hikers for the time and location I am going, so I will be pretty much on my own for at least a couple of months.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Weight of gear?
How much do you carry? How much do you resupply?
When I mean “homesteading” I am talking more about building for winter elements, dealing with winter weather to be exact. Basically a trappers cabin, something temporary for the winter to settle in. Have you observed any homesteadable places that would fit these requirements? I can deal with being kicked out, just not being kicked out during winter.
Is it easy to find work?
What items are best for trade, or is it primarily labor?
What are the financial costs and where do they go (food, etc.)?
Are you armed or unarmed?
How often do you run into people? What personality types?
My gear weight is 16lbs base pack weight. This is enough to keep me warm and comfortable to 15 degrees or so. Generally, I don’t wear much while hiking, because you generate a lot of body heat. Walking full speed, I am fine with a windproof jacket(patagonia Adze is excellent), watch cap, polypro neck gaiter, and army glove liners to mid 20’s. I add polypro pants if it is really cold, generally only wear them at night or in camp, because they are a pain in the ass to take off(gotta take your shoes and outer pants off first).
Total pack weight fully loaded with food and water maxes out at 35lbs, though I generally stick with about 28lbs total weight. Food lasts about a week.
I use a 3L GI Camelbak with a Sawyer squeeze filter as an inline filter, they are good to 100K gallons, have a syringe for backflushing, and are about 20 bucks. I can boil water with a small cookpot if needed. I carry a Mora Robust carbon steel knife with a sharpener and firesteel. I won’t list all my gear for now.
I have a 15 degree synthetic bag(down can get wet) and if it is really cold, I make a leaf bed about a foot deep, put my pad and bag down, then fill the rest of the tent with leaves, then crawl into the bag. I can also fill my jacket with dry grass and leaves. I sleep with my water and filter inside the bag so they don’t freeze.
I carry about 10-15lbs food, just grocery store stuff, tuna packets, cookies, peanut butter, Lipton rice meals. Every ounce counts, so you don’t carry stuff you don’t need. I made most of my gear myself, or heavily modified existing gear. I sew and make things with tools, I made gear lighter, simpler and more sturdy by sewing(cutting pack straps short, rebuilding parts of pack, ect).
I only ran into one person I thought might have issues, so I kept hiking. Always be able to do a couple more miles if you need to when you stop for camp.
For the trail, you can be as cheap as you want. People stay in hotels to shower, sleep in a bed, I rarely did so as I enjoyed sleeping in the woods. I spent $2300 on my 5 month thru hike of the Appalachian Trail in 2010. Some people spent $6K plus. All a matter of how luxurious you want to go. I was planning on coming home, so I can do it cheaper this time, knowing the money has to last. Like I said, I didn’t do a lot of work, as I really didn’t have to. Hopefully my VA disability will go through, then it won’t be an issue. If this is the case, I’ll stay out for years, travel around the US, hit trails, and explore.
I didn’t carry a firearm, but I have a knife and hiking pole, and have done quite a bit of hand to hand training with a friend that has been doing it his whole life. Situational awareness is the key for anything, if it doesn’t feel right, get the hell out, and watch your back.
The hikers were all kinds, retired people finally getting to do it, college grads, some homeless people(rare), everybody was really friendly and helpful. I’ll be leaving Feb 24th, flying to Virginia, starting about halfway up, before everyone else starts, so I won’t see a lot of people out there for awhile. Not many people go camping when it is 10 degrees outside. Takes some skills to do it comfortably, especially with my medical weight restrictions from knee issues.
So you won’t be carrying anything for trade. There are towns along the trail to resupply at. I just got in and got my groceries and left, usually. Easy to spend a lot of money in town. I have a tiny MP3 player, ecig, and microUSB headlamp that I recharge with a small battery pack. I can charge all electronics if I stay in a cheap hostel, or in an emergency, in a gas station outlet for 30mins or so. I have a fast wall charger, better than the usual ones that come with phones. I like my music, hike or walk with it on sometimes, or at camp.
Also, I have long hair and a beard, which helps a lot with cold weather. I can wear my hair down, then trap it under my jacket as a scarf. I wear it tied back in the summer because it isn’t as hot. I can also sew with hair if I really had to, and snip off short pieces for a firestarter or to make fishing lures.
I don’t want to further derail this thread, so I might make a monster post in another section, Hobbies or somesuch, listing all my gear, these last two posts, and skills I think might be useful to learn for anyone contemplating something like this.
The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/earth/environment/globalwarming/11395516/The-fiddling-with-temperature-data-is-the-biggest-science-scandal-ever.html@rainydaykid,
Please do let us know more about your gear in this thread or another.
I used to be a big time backpacker. I miss those days in a way, although I had sound reasons to give up the sport, those reasons were not because I stopped liking being alone in the outdoors.Society asks MGTOWs: Why are you not making more tax-slaves?
Anonymous11I love f~~~ing with the warmistas too. They attack me relentlessly whenever I tell them this present warming cycle started in the past 20,000 years. Al Gore has conveniently structured his investments in a way that will highly benefit from implementing that agenda. Slight conflict of interest on his part so he has zero credibility IMHO.
They are too many variables(Solar output, Atmospheric chemistry, Volcanic activity, Cosmic rays influx to mention just a few) involved to fully understand it much less even predict it which is why they have to fiddle with the data to fit their political agenda. I’m sick of the scare tactics and lies.
Where my house presently stands was about 90 miles inland 15,000 years ago. It is now 11.2 miles from the closest shore. I can even take you to places that are under 8 feet of salt water at high tide that have ancient oak and pine trees eroding from the creek banks where what is now a salt marsh was once a lush forest, and it did not happen yesterday nor in the past 1000 years. I just don’t try to turn it into a political weapon as we will enter another cooling trend eventually too.
I’m also not in favor of wantonly dumping toxic waste into the environment a la China, but global warming as portrayed by the captured media is a PC control agenda just like feminism and brought to us by the exact same power mad freaks.
Anyone who was alive that in the early 70s will recall that global cooling was all the rage.
Holy s~~~ snacks!!! Check out this article – talk about timing!!! I have nothing but absolute contempt of the highest order for the intentional falsehoods that the active proponents of global warming have spread across the globe. A worse bunch of lying scumbags I have never seen in my life, but then I wasn’t alive when the global scam of eugenics, which most Western nations fully subscribed to, resulted in the genocide of the Jews by the Nazis. Eugenics is the 20th century version of global warming – total bulls~~~ to further political ends.

The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever
New data shows that the “vanishing” of polar ice is not the result of runaway global warming
When future generations look back on the global-warming scare of the past 30 years, nothing will shock them more than the extent to which the official temperature records – on which the entire panic ultimately rested – were systematically “adjusted” to show the Earth as having warmed much more than the actual data justified.
Two weeks ago, under the headline “How we are being tricked by flawed data on global warming”, I wrote about Paul Homewood, who, on his Notalotofpeopleknowthat blog, had checked the published temperature graphs for three weather stations in Paraguay against the temperatures that had originally been recorded. In each instance, the actual trend of 60 years of data had been dramatically reversed, so that a cooling trend was changed to one that showed a marked warming.
Following my last article, Homewood checked a swathe of other South American weather stations around the original three. In each case he found the same suspicious one-way “adjustments”. First these were made by the US government’s Global Historical Climate Network (GHCN). They were then amplified by two of the main official surface records, the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (Giss) and the National Climate Data Center (NCDC), which use the warming trends to estimate temperatures across the vast regions of the Earth where no measurements are taken. Yet these are the very records on which scientists and politicians rely for their belief in “global warming”.
Of much more serious significance, however, is the way this wholesale manipulation of the official temperature record – for reasons GHCN and Giss have never plausibly explained – has become the real elephant in the room of the greatest and most costly scare the world has known. This really does begin to look like one of the greatest scientific scandals of all time.
Ok, thread is up in sports and leisure section. I’ll add to it as time permits.
Up to now, global warming has been entirely disappointing. I like hot weather, and I’m not getting enough!
Great Lakes “likely to have the most ice since records began,” says meteorologist

Anonymous42Spent all day removing F~~~ING ICE from everything, 12 below 0 the other night! 1st warm day in a month, blew my tranny plowing, HEY AL GORE; F~~~YOU! asshole!
Had a WOMAN tell me how good snow is for the economy! F~~~ING STUPID! Typical idiot f~~~ing birdbrain. All the work she says; yea cleaning up f~~~ing s~~~, our economy should be f~~~ing booming with all the feminist fallout, 67 f~~~ing feet of the s~~~! C~~~ sucking F~~~!
The reason I say Global Warming is BS other than the standard arguments, is that there is no f~~~ing way to disprove the theory. All changes in weather patterns be it warming, cooling, hurricanes, and anything else that sounds sensational is held up as proof of global warming, or climate change. How can I buy into a moving goal post theory?
Once again more proof that the only thing that global warming advocates point to in order to support their cult is dead wrong (models):
http://dailycaller.com/2015/03/02/antarctic-sea-ice-did-the-exact-opposite-of-what-models-predicted/
In the case of Antarctica, the climate models were dead wrong, according to a new study by Chinese scientists published in the journal Cryosphere. The study found that most climate models predicted Antarctic sea ice coverage would shrink as the world warmed and greenhouse gas levels increased. The opposite happened. Most climate models analyzed in the study predicted Antarctica would shrink between 1979 and 2005, but instead south pole sea ice levels increased during that time. Going a step further, sea ice levels have only increased since 2006, hitting all-time highs for sea ice coverage in September of last year. Chinese scientists only looked at sea ice projections until 2005. Had they kept going, they would find more than a trend of “slightly increasing” sea ice levels. Last year was the first year on record that Antarctic sea ice coverage rose above 7.72 square miles. By Sept. 22, 2014, sea ice extent reached its highest level on record — 7.76 square miles. Antarctica is now in its melt season, but even so, sea ice levels were very high for late December and early January.
More proof it’s a hoax – this is from the horse’s mouth:
Environment: One United Nations official has admitted that the global warming scare is an effort to destroy capitalism. But that’s only part of the motivation. For others, as a second U.N. official confirms, it’s a religious experience. Alarmists started to come clean at a news conference in Brussels in early February when Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of the U.N.’s Framework Convention on Climate Change, owned up to their agenda. She made clear what so many already know: The goal of environmental activists is not to save the world from ecological ruin but to extinguish capitalism.
“This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution,” she said. Anti-capitalist activists can operate under that framework without ever believing that man is responsible for climate change. But many alarmists are true believers. For them, the global warming scare has a mystical allure. Outgoing Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Chairman Rajendra Pachauri is one of these disciples. Pachauri resigned this week from his cushy U.N. job after a female researcher lodged a sexual harassment complaint against him in his home country, India. In his letter of resignation, he explained why he did what he did at the U.N. “For me, the protection of planet Earth, the survival of all species and sustainability of our ecosystems is more than a mission. It is my religion and my dharma.”
And all this time we were supposed to believe that global warming and climate change were about rigorous science.
This is an observation also made by Czech President Vaclav Klaus, who told a gathering at the Cato Institute in fall 2009 that all of environmentalism, not just the climate-change belief system, “is a religion.” University of Wisconsin law professor Ann Althouse made a similar remark a year later. “When everything is evidence of the thing you want to believe, it might be time to stop pretending you’re all about science,” she wrote in her blog.
Galt I thought you would appreciate this video. The EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy refuses to answer if the climate models they are basing their proposed budget increase on are accurate.
Willfully turning aside from the truth is treason to one's self. -Terry Goodkind
@LazarusLong – sweet, ty man, I’d seen the article today and forgot to hunt for the video – I’m watching it downstairs now on my TV 🙂
Anonymous5“This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution,”
Actually, it’s the second time, but probably the first time it’s being tried on a global scale.
The first time this experiment was tried was in Cambodia by Pol Pot.
The results were beyond horrific, but he succeeded.
He basically sent his country back to the stone age and made Stalin, Mao Tse Tung and Hitler look like amateurs when it came to the degree to which they annihilated the people of their own countries.I don’t think the Capitalistic Global Economy needs any help at all with collapse. It’s doing a fine job of that all by itself.
Rampant money printing (quantitative eeeeeeezing) is now the only resort of the European union as well, and is the best indicator of the real state of things, not their soothing explanations. To be upfront, I still strongly lean towards Global Warming, but only because of the media, like anyone else.
I’ll start looking at the data and arguments presented here in detail over the next few weeks. All red pills are hard to swallow, so be gentle with those you’re trying to medicate.
More fraud here … sorry, gents, if you believe this horses~~~ then I can only shake my head … and one other thing: for the love of humanity would you just answer one f~~~ing question? WHO DECIDED WHAT THE OPTIMUM AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE F~~~ING EARTH IS?
http://dailycaller.com/2015/03/09/more-evidence-of-climate-data-tampering-by-noaa/
Think hard about that – with all the f~~~ing variation in average global temperatures in the f~~~ing billions of years of the f~~~ing earth’s history, WHO EXACTLY decided THE EXACT OPTIMUM temperature range that should be experienced on earth by human beings??? ARE YOU F~~~ING INSANE?? Do you not know that many more people every f~~~ing year die because of extreme cold temperatures than they do from hot temperatures??? JESUS F~~~ING CHRIST ALREADY!!! Wake the f~~~ up!!! LEARN SCIENCE, not cultism. The left’s f~~~ing bulls~~~ about man-made global warming or climate change or whatever the f~~~ these morons are calling it IS NOT F~~~ING SCIENCE!
Jesus f~~~ing Christ, it is outrageous to let an entire generation get away with believing in this absolute f~~~ing bulls~~~. If you believe in this s~~~, pards, you’ll believe in any f~~~ing thing anyone tells you. And that is so f~~~ing sad. You will be known as the ‘useless idiots’, mindless morons who follow their leaders because they don’t want the burden of thinking and reasoning for themselves.
