I’ve been pretty excited for this one, been a long time GITS fan. The first trailer I wasn’t sold on but this new one does a great job. A lot of the shots are from original anime. The geisha bots are right out of the second anime.

Plot looks to draw from the animated series as well. All and all looks to pay homage to the originals.

There was uproar for not having a Asian lead but it’s a American film and scarlet jo is as good a actress as any to play the part.

I remember they did an Aeon Flux movie that bombed big league.

I don’t understand why Hollywood likes to portray roles with Asian leads with non-Asian characters.

There’s a movie about the Great Wall of China with Ben Affleck’s bff Matt Damon as the lead protagonist.

I did just see Dr. Strange in 3D though, very good special effects, story was meh.

Looking good. Looks like old school inspiration from the original GitS movie with touches of the SAC mixed in, along with a unique twist to the the plot.

For those that do not know what Ghost in the Shell franchise is. The GitS manga and original movie redefined cyberpunk. While the GitS Stand Alone Complex showed up the concept of a post-cyberpunk world.

And this preview… I was not disappointed. Instead, watching it intrigues me. And it looks like Scarlett Johansson has nailed playing Motoko.

The GitS franchise has been around since the last 1980’s. And the GitS franchise loves to add as much philosophy as it does action. And there is a lot of action in GitS.

The GitS franchise has enough credit to be worth giving the live action movie a chance.

Well I confess you know more about it than I do…I was basing my statement solely on the trailer. But I know I’m sick and tired of the “powerful” female hero-type being jammed down my throat by a femenista media complex. there is an agenda being promoted…if I’m wrong it won’ be the first time—-it will be the second.

True that. If I remember correctly that was based off a short cartoon on mtv with dogey animation. Hard to get a race or a plot out of that. Especially since she died every episode.

That’s part of Hollywood. There is a lot more that goes into character selection than just looks. From what I’ve read even the Japanese don’t care / aren’t surprised due to it being an American film.

It’s easy to say that about everything given the current state of society but this story, the original at least, is well done.

Watch the original anime, then make the judgmement. It’s 20 years old and still a great watch.

Agreed, however as other members have pointed out its not like that and everything has context. How well this translate to film remains to be seen.

If you like anime and have never seen this, do your self a favor and watch.

You know what I fear most ? The hollywoodization of this movie.
Just that, I fear that they turn this awesome idea into a political correct “superior strong independent women” movie. If they put some romance, will be a stab in the back.

I’ve trust issues with hollywood and remakes, specially in this political correct era.

They can make a remake ? Yes they can, just get the old movie script and follow it with real actors, do what hollywood do best, that put special effects everywhere and it will win the best movie of the year for sure !!! But don’t change the story ! Don’t change characters personality, don’t make if comercial/mainstream with love, romance and this kind of bulls~~~ !

Me neither, man. It bugs me. Not a SJW-level rage, but an annoyance.

As for GitS, I’m not particularly excited. I’m sure the effects will be breathtaking, but I’m not a fan of ScarJo in the slightest and I feel like it will be the typical Hollywood story: Gut the marketable parts, trash the rest. I’d love to be proved wrong here, believe me. Only time will tell.
