I just got back to the grocery store, and I am VERY p~~~ed off! I went down there just to get beer for the month, and some f~~~ing female cashier wouldn’t allow me to buy it, even though the gate was wide open. She said, it’s because it’s Sunday before 10 AM, and I’m said “So what, that’s bulls~~~!” F~~~ing 20 something c~~~ won’t allow me to buy my beer! Again, the gate was wide open. If I couldn’t buy beer before 10 AM on a Sunday (why should it matter), then why did they open the gate to the liquor section and allowed me to take it from the freezer?! So she p~~~ed me off and I made a little scene. She didn’t even say sorry or anything. It was like “too bad, screw you” sort of thing. She saw that I had the 18 pack on the conveyor belt with the old hag customer in front and she doesn’t bother to say anything before; she waits until she refuses to ring it up. I just left the box there for HER to clean up and forced the cart in front and left all upset. I mean I went there just to get beer, and only beer, and instead I went down there to get f~~~ed off! F~~~ing C~~~!

Dude, it’s 12:30 here on Sundays now.

I remember when I moved back to Georgia from Florida. I made it to the checkout line with a 12 pack only to have the cashier not sell. Sunday beer sales were illegal back then which is why I welcome all of the out of State people who move here. They reduce the power of the force my religion on others snake handlers who populate much of rural Georgia.

You’re right why should it matter. We have a lot of teetotalers, well not in Savannah proper, but State wide. I love the looks they give when you are drinking alcohol.

If she has the authority to say “no beer before 10”, then she should have the corresponding responsibility of NOT opening that section.
Record all details and present them in an email to EVERY higher level of that store.
I had some BS happen to me years ago; by the time the store’s immediate management could apologize, they’d been slaughtered by the sheer number of inquiries from upper management. That was a burger franchise though, and it regarded an order window rip-off.

    OR just ignore her.
Women love it when you ignore them.

some of our laws are so skewed, and f~~~ed up.

a 13 year old girl can walk into a planned parenthood and get an abortion without an adult present with her and no questions asked.

but you cant buy a beer b4 10am, nor can I bet 50 dollars today on the Green Bay packers to win.(unless I’m in Vegas) its such bulls~~~!

I didn’t even know that these were state laws. It thought it was some stupid thing the store came up with to inconvenience customers. Even though, it’s still f~~~ing stupid. I mean what the f~~~ does it matter what time it is on Sunday?

some of our laws are so skewed, and f~~~ed up.

I’m glad you put it that way, because it really is f~~~ed up! I mean why should a kid be able to have abortions or anything sex related without a parent’s permission, but an adult over 21 can’t buy himself a beer or a lottery ticket at certain times?!

So what that today is Sunday and it was 7:15 AM then; why does it f~~~ing matter?! I mean why did they make a law like that anyway?! I’m the adult, I don’t need permission from anyone to buy alcohol! Like I said, it was against the rules to buy beer before 10 AM, then what was the liquor section gate doing wide open with no one in it stocking it?! So how was I suppose to know without living that mistake?

Well there’s another life experience I now have to learn from. I’m going to go to another grocery store later on this morning, because I did make a small scene to that woman, saying that it’s a bulls~~~ rule, I left the box for her to clean up and pushed the cart forcefully out of the way.

Well I’m calming down! I just wanted to have a Coors Light for tonight’s presidential debate along with my Doritos.

Around ten years ago on the east coast (Canada) you couldn’t buy beer on a Sunday either but there was a sneaky way to get some.

All you had to do was take a tour of the local brewery
and of course at the end just buy some ‘samples’,it got to the point where you didn’t even need to take the tour
and finally the Gov’t caved in and allowed Liquor/beer
    stores to open on Sundays.

Another funny story, when I worked in remote oil camps,
I would do a 21 day stretch and have 8 days off. Now you weren’t supposed to drink during your time in camp so those that didn’t were pretty thirsty by the time they left.

This is where I discovered the benefits of the International Airports, apparently having that designation allows them to serve alcohol at anytime of the day so we’d often be belly up to the bar at 8 in the morning waiting for our flight home.

Like the song goes,It’s five o clock somewhere.

I had this problem when i lived out east, i guess in the bible belt, it’s ok to buy a bottle of wine on saturday, to drink on sunday ? But you can’t buy it on sunday ?

I really don’t know what the difference is, i don’t even drink anymore, but these laws make no sense, and seem to be upheld by religious folks.

You guys should come to Germany, 24 hours, 7 days a week. Buy it at the supermarket, gas staion, kiosk wherever you like. Drink it ouside in the park or on the waterfront. No problem.

Probably all part of your state’s “Sunday Liquor Laws”. I do not know the exact history of the “Sunday Liqour Laws” but I would venture to say it was drafted by the same feminist/religous groups that were behind prohibition. They had to do something when their cute ammendment failed so horribly.

Don’t blame her. Blame the busybody bitches who passed that law imposing their empty morality on the people.

No matter how angry you get with her, it’s nothing compared to how the law will come down on her personally if she were to break the law and sell to you. I don’t know what the law is there, but around here it’s a $10,000 fine on the store and another $10,000 fine for her personally. And the police try to trick store clerks all the time to get that money. She probably thought you were part of an undercover sting, and getting angry with her only made her more suspicious.

If this is a county level ordinance, and you’re near the border, just cross the line for your beer next time. I think you’ll find a twenty four hour liquor store right on the other side, happy to serve you and everyone else from your backwards county.

I live in a close knit town and personally, wouldn’t want the social stigma attached to purchasing alcohol at 10:30am – people will assume you’re planning to go home and neck that straight away.

As for the law, unfortunately, the law has to cater for idiots. That’s why we pay huge taxes on alcohol as a deterrent.

It’s not fair on those that enjoy alcohol responsibly and in moderation, but the laws are there for a reason.

Look at the bright side—the owner of the store actually got a woman to follow instructions–how amazing is that?

Besides we live in a country that is going down the tubes. If you want to be p~~~ed about something our national demise is a little more worthy of ire than lack of beer. Its hard for me to say that since I’m German and to a German there is only one thing more important than beer—invading france.

So let them assume. Who gives a f~~~ what they think?

Off topic, as it becomes widely known that you don’t give a f~~~ what the community thinks, the female segment of it will become more interested in what you think. That’s just how they’re hardwired. But don’t give any f~~~s about what they think either.

    Sunday before 10 AM

Sunday beer sales were illegal back then

no alcohol sales before noon is fairly common

What kind of law is this? Is it some Murrica thing? In my countr, at some cities, selling alcohol in grocery shops after 10 PM is illegal, to limit drunk idiots on the street. But it’s only the order of the city-government, not a state-wide law.

Why is this “no alcohol before noon”? As it is said, “Drinking rum before 10 AM makes you a pirate, not an alcoholic” !

You guys should come to Germany, 24 hours, 7 days a week. Buy it at the supermarket, gas staion, kiosk wherever you like. Drink it ouside in the park or on the waterfront. No problem.

I can confirm that. As long as a shop is open, there is very good German beer for sale. And if I’m right, drinking beer is allowed in public from age of 16. (Wine and vodka-like concentrated stuff are limited 18+ and only in pubs or at home)

I fully anticipated to get called on this post and I do agree with you.

My situation is a little different. My entire family lives in this town, and I’m just trying to be smart – I don’t like drawing attention to myself (good or bad). It just isn’t worth the hassle.

A while back I bought a bottle of JD from the local supermarket at midday on a Saturday for a party I was attending later that evening. Low and behold I get a text from an acquaintance an hour later, asking why I was buying 70cl of JD at that time – that’s how f~~~ing ridiculous it is.

I prefer to go unnoticed, not play the town clown.
