I am still researching women’s nature myself and what I can’t understand is why they go for losers. Wouldn’t hypergamy dictate that they go for higher status men with a potential to provide more resources? I guess she sees the Chad as an alpha protector but if he is an unemployed loser then I don’t understand what she gets out of it.

If she had been more diabolical, i.e. more like the typical female, she would have just banged the Chad on the side and kept the beta provider for her lifestyle. I think western men have been so feminized at this point that women will gravitate towards anything that shows a shred of masculinity even if it means shacking up with a total loser.

Thank you all for the warm welcome — I appreciate it! It’s good to be home. I feel like I walked away, almost completely unhurt, from a train wreck. I’m certainly not going to get back on that train again. We were married for just over 10 years and I have a college degree while she doesn’t, so it is very likely that I would be paying alimony now, if I hadn’t been able to prove adultery. I think part of the reason why she moved in with Chad instead of just banging him on the side is that she believed that she would have me financing her new lifestyle. I know that she’d been talking with some of her (female) friends before she left and I have no doubt about the kind of advice they provided (I saw some of the correspondence on the computer).

It’s been a remarkable journey: my feelings of sadness and depression were gradually replaced with a calm peace that I wouldn’t trade for anything — the peace of knowing that I can do whatever I want, whenever I want… that nobody is going to bitch at me because I spent 15 minutes longer working on a project that I’d estimated… that nobody is going to tell me to sell my fun weekend car because I “never use it anymore” (and this is a car I bought before we were even married! For the record, I didn’t sell it!)… that nobody will be spending my money LITERALLY as fast as I earn it (I pointed out to her on our account statement one month that “we” had spent more that month than I’d earned — and she got furious at ME for pointing it out)… nobody bitching at me for buying tools occasionally with MY money… the list is endless.

One other thing I realized is how little time she actually spent on domestic duties. Now that I have to do the cooking, cleaning, and animal care myself, I’d say that she spent less than two hours per day (usually much less) on these chores — yet she acted like it was a huge burden.

One amusing story: My main attorney was a very experienced, no BS kind of guy — in his late 70’s, I’d guess. When I told him that I’m not going to marry again, HE tried to tell me that there are still some “good women” left. This from a man who has literally seen the worst in people going through divorce! (But it was fun to sit in his office when he took a call from a female client and he absolutely reamed her and told her that she was making excuses instead of taking accountability).
