I’m finishing up a couple of online courses I’m doing here around friday next week, and I’ll start up another two again on the 28th. Meanwhile, I am trying to figure out the fork i’ve reached in my military path between separation and reenlistment. More on that in another thread soon.

Working on getting down the 8% body fat I’ve been wanting. Eating apples instead of snickers. Also starting to get into music creation, and seeing where that goes.

I’ve been working on my social life a bit lately. It sounds unimportant, but I’m enjoying the interaction with others and helping me keep a better perspective on things.

I’ve also done a lot of home improvement this year. Replaced a ton of switches and stuff for ‘smart’ stuff, painted the entire interior, added cameras. Will be doing landscape lighting next.

Been slacking off a bit on the diet and exercise, but not to bad. Started running again this week, and took the dog with me. I think he’s liking the benefits more than I do.

And of course, football and school (I have kids) are starting up, which will keep me busy.

Work is the same as always.

    Ok. Then do it.

Finishing touches to my nearly-renovated house. I’ll be getting the carpet fitters in early October – that’s the final job. Then it’ll go on the market and with the proceeds, I’ll buy another place and bank the change.
Meanwhile I will have started my postgrad degree in computer science.

Working on getting my golf handicap down, and keeping my new black Ghibli looking shiny 👍🏼

I'm a one man guy in the morning, the same in the after noon. A one man guy when the sun goes down, I whistle me a one man tune. I'm a one man guy, one man guy, and the one man is me. 👍🏼Thanks Loudon Wainwright for the wise words

    – Got myself a 1 yr gym-card. Trying to start a new habit with stopping by the gym on my way home every day. Goal: 250 visits in one year. First three weeks done. Bring on the rest.

    – Starting remaking the walk-in closet into a work-shop.

    – Currently looking for interesting places to travel in the fall.

    – Decided to worry less about work and take care of myself instead.

    So far, doing great!

Same age as Old Bill here. Well past mid-point of career as a professor. Learning how to MANeuver on campus is tough these days.

So I’m sharpening my skills, finishing my basement, reading “$100 Startup,” and taking y’alls advice to return to the classics.

    Really enjoy this site.

    My immediate goals are:
    Fast
    pray more
finish remodeling one of my 3 rental homes and my home (procrastination is my middle name 🙂

Tackle St. Augustine’s epic “City of God”. I have always been fascinated by how Christianity replaced, without violence but by reason and logic, the formidable Greek and Roman philosophies that seemed invincible at that time.

And how a return to these ancient failed philosophies in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as a replacement for Christianity, lead to the dark ages of the twentieth century represented by the horrors of Stalin, Communism in Russia for over seventy years and Eastern Europe for forty years AND Mao, Hitler and Pol Pot.

    God bless, Michael

    Great topic OldBill.

I’ve been using my Fitbit as a taskmaster and reaching or succeeding my goal each day. Result, lost about 25lbs.

Cancelled my Sirius subscription and now listen to audible books and online videos. I’d much rather listen and learn about history than listen to the garbage on the radio.

@RangerOne, don’t hear much these days about model railroading. I have some N scale given to my by my grandfather. Most of my stuff is HO. I’m hoping to one day have a room dedicated to my layout.

Slowly slogging through the divorce process and work eat up the rest of my time.

A co-worker recently told me, "If you want to see who someone really is, divorce them." I have found out how true this is. When your wife drops the façade of being the caring partner, you will witness all of the greed, hate, and spite that she has masked. It is truly breathtaking!

10 push-ups every morning? I do 120-130, this morning 144 since I slept more than usual. Then there’s the 2 hours lifting session, every two days (basically a day I do it, the next day don’t, the day after I do it again).
No real vacations this summer, due job, too much job to do, I’ve barely got a week.
However I’m planning a three weeks holiday for this winter.

Excellent, I’m more of a dilletante as I only rediscovered my faith earlier this year when my world fell apart. But I’ve got the Penguin History of The Church book one sitting on a bookshelf here. It has always fascinated me how a small persecuted religious minority rose to eventually take over an entire Empire. God’s will if you’re a believer. I’ll add St Augustine’s tome as well, after you mentioned it. Thanks Michael.

Never reached such level, record was 9.8%, now I’m about 10.5% very stable. I also have the “problem” of having mainly red fibers, so they inflate less than how it would be expected given the workout I do. There are pros and cons, but cons are mostly useless: I care nothing aboutb the fact that the red fibers are the best for prolonged force, I would prefer white fibers for explosive force, also because they grow more.

I’ll be training 5 to 6 days a week, sometimes even twice a day now since I have a lot free time. When the funds are available, I’ll be adding western boxing to my regiment as well.

I’ll also be finishing a lot of the books I never got around to read as well.

I’m learning how to cook better.

And I’ll finally finish my pfsense router as well.

I’m late to the party, so what wanna fight about it? /s Just kidding.

My goals right now are as follows:
-Culling my record collection down to a size where it will fit on the shelves I’ve got.
-Reading all the non-fiction in my library.
-Training rigorously, usually 6 days a week although some days I go harder than others. I use a variation of Solitary Fitness by Charles Bronson, it’s a frugal workout which requires very little in regards to equipment.

    Charles Bronson Solitary Fitness

-I try not to eat too much junk food, although I do indulge a couple times a week. Otherwise I eat fairly well, could do better, but it would cost more. My main priority is getting enough protein (1gram per 1kg of body weight, daily), avoiding soy, sugar and modified corn syrup/glucose-fructose.

My plans for the fall are to secure some full time employment, odds are I start looking at warehouses because I’ve got experience sorting them out and unloading trucks. I’ll probably try to get a forklift license as well because that makes landing a job way easier.

Thanks for the book title, Gringo.
