I know there are a few physicians among the group here and I want to grovel for some free medical advice. I’ve seen ads for a “No Scalpel Vasectomy” and other ads in a catalogue for the instruments-ALL instruments in my blow out kit, Tactical Combat Casualty Care kit, etc. are either Miltex orWelch Allyn so it must have been a Miltex catalogue.

Anyway Docs, what is it? Less expensive? More? Difference in infection risk? I have lidocaine, sutures, etcetera…can I get a mirror, get my girlfriend to help, and just do this myself?

It’s like this: ‘No scalpel surgery’ sounds good in an advertisement because it brings the impression that there will be less pain. Everyone fears the scalpel and so advertising that crap makes it sound less painful. But those tubes are not going to cut themselves. And the skin that covers them is not going to just unzip on its own either. They are just going to be cut with other sharp instruments whose name is not “scalpel”.

Not to worry, the anesthesia for this is straightforward and effective regardless of what sharp instrument they use to do the procedure.

As for the idea of giving sharp instruments to a woman and then volunteering to trust her with your jewels…? You considering this idea makes me think that maybe you need a psychiatrist more than a surgeon…

Agree with BP. Medicine tends to be trendy. I would stick to the tried and true. I’m not an expert in urology but this is not a new or big procedure…and I’m a satisfied customer. No pain here.

Hey Fang, I got into my biz when a longtime friend bought a bar and it had to be cleaned up.

I have a history of dealing with agitated people…so, that helps. I was an Asset Recovery Specialist(churched up “Repo Man” lol) for about four years and while it’s beans compared to serving criminals with nothing to lose, it could still get pretty dicey.

I got a vasectomy about 5 years ago.  For anyone concerned it was mostly painless – except initial shot to numb.  It was $700, but my insurance covered it all.  I was about 41, and the doc still asked me several times “Are you sure?” and “Have you thought this out?” and “What if you meet a younger woman who wants kids?”, so I would suspect some doctors to grill the younger guys some.    I did have some sharp pains on one side of my nuts about three weeks after the surgery, for a day or two.  It was mostly uncomfortable, not a buckle you over type of pain, but it did hurt.  I dunno what it was, and called the doctor, but they were like “Let us know if it sticks around a couple days.”  Be sure to get your sperm counts.  I had to do two of them.  One a few weeks after, and then another like three months after – although maybe that’s not standard.

 

I know of one guy at work who had a vas about 15 or 20 years ago whose wife got preggers, and it was actually his, but I don’t think that’s very common.  They snipped, knotted, and cauterized my tubes.  Sometimes I think they’ll also add a crimp, but he didn’t do so on mine.  When I asked the doctor what the chances are that the tubes would revert back, he told me he’d had five patients in the last 20 years who had come into his office with wives or GFs pregnant.  I’m sure he saw the look in my eye as “What the eff?!”, as he followed up with, “…..and upon testing them all 5 were still shooting blanks.  Four of the five guys suspected the wife was cheating on them, and the one cried in my office because he didn’t suspect, which was very uncomfortable.”  So, I’d say it’s rare, but possible.  And if you keep it a secret you may find out if someone cheats on you. Ha!  Not that I’m concerned with such since I stay clear of serious relationships.

I got mine when I was hitched, my ex had a kidney condition that could have easily escalated into life-threatening if she were to get pregnant. I’ve always known that I don’t want children anyway, so it was really a non-issue.

Having a vasectomy doesn’t mean you get to stop wearing condoms. Polyisoprene condoms are far better than latex, imo. Feels way closer to bareback, but you have the same protection as if you were wearing latex.

Whoever said that Obamacare doesn’t cover vasectomies doesn’t really understand what Obamacare is or how it works. My Obamacare plan does cover vasectomies, I just logged in to check. Some don’t cover optometry or dental, but mine does because that’s what I selected.

Maybe I am not a real MGTOW for saying this but … I do not like the idea of getting a vasectomy and I will never will.

I respect your choice and everyone here seems to be with you so good for you man, whatever makes you happy.

But my side of the story is that my sperms are the gateway to immortality , I don’t have kids but I do want a couple of them eventually.
