While away I met a women staying at same hotel. Turns out she was on my flight & also the return home.

10 years younger & a widow via car accident.

Met her at the bar. I kept looking at her and she was always looking right back.

She was vivacious, charming, intelligent and most importantly … adventures.

I really really enjoyed her company … LOTS.

We went out for meals and around town and NO RED FLAGS. We 50/50’d on everything.

The last night she asked if we should go to her room … and that’s when I realised … I wasn’t going to go further.

So this is what I said:

“I will only sleep with my wife & I won’t marry because I don’t want a divorce”

She hinted at it being ok … just fun … but I just couldn’t be …. well bothered with sex.

I loved her for the person she was and the fun time we had … but that was it.

Unfortunately she took this a little hard and felt upset and tricked. There were the flags.

She couldn’t understand why I was just happy in her company.

I asked her what was wrong with two people just ‘being’ and enjoying life.

She wanted to feel desired and wanted. She wanted to feel loved.

So I manned up and did the right thing … I went home.

The love chemicals have subsided now and I’m back to normal.

On arrival in UK she just walked straight out the exit without even looking at me.

That’s the fking thing they don’t get. Had we carried on ‘being friends’ and maybe getting closer … so I could search for flags or lies … who knows what might happen.

I see this as a win for you for these reasons: you got what you wanted. You got all of what you wanted. Though more might have been available, you took only what you wanted. What you got cost her exactly nothing. You had zero negative impact on her life/health/finances etc.

Yet, she exits the experience angry and resentful. Why?

She is not mad as a result of what you took from her. That cost her nothing. What she’s mad about is what she intended to take from you… that she did not get.

You would only be mad about what you didn’t get… if you felt that it was already yours, or that you were entitled to it. We can’t know for sure everything that was on the list of things she intended to take from you. But we can know from her response to not getting it that she felt very strongly that it was already hers, and that you cheated her out of it.
