I moved to southeast Texas 16 years ago for the same reasons. That was after living in the San Francisco Bay Area for 40 years and watching it go progressively downhill that entire time.
I love life in Texas. You get outside the big cities and leftism is hardly noticeable most places. Even in the cities there are enough people on the right that you don’t see that CA leftist aggression much, because it won’t get much traction. I lived in small town Texas until recently and loved it. Live in Houston area now (Dan Crenshaw’s district), and still don’t have many brushes with Leftism. I’m in a good area to raise kids where there’s a lot of parental involvement and people seem to care about the schools, scouting, churches, etc. I actually know quite a few people in local Christian communities who appear to be happily married, although I wouldn’t risk it. Same problems here as anywhere.
Meanwhile my siblings are raising their kids in CA where there is no common culture and there are are no values aside from money, hedonism, political correctness, and the girls are all in competition to be the biggest thot. I would consider it child abuse to take my kids back to CA and put them in that sick environment to be brainwashed and have their values destroyed by feckless peers.
Austin is the worst. If I had a dollar for every time a Californian said “I’m thinking about moving to Austin.” That’s because in their minds it’s the unspoiled California 2.0 – the only city in Texas most of them have ever heard of, thanks to the tech industry and PBS. As nice as the surroundings are, I would avoid Austin.

Do you think the native Texans can maintain their control over their home? Austin isn’t the only liberal city. Things are getting pretty “woke”.
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll whisper "no."
