I live in the Midwest. Housing is very affordable. I am in a suburb, but if you are strategic and don’t mind a 30 min commute one way, you can do even better on housing by living even further from the corrupt major city core. Sure, the weather isn’t great. And I would make more money in California. But my house would likely cost $1,000,000 there, instead of $250,000 in The Midwest. My house is no mansion, but no druggies are beating doors down in the area I live in, either. If you are in that bad of an area, try getting a nicer apartment with a roommate to offset the higher rent.
As for the Marxist boot of the leftists, everywhere you live in the US, you still pay federal taxes. One thing all states have in common: none of them are shrinking government. Nor are the cities (I prefer the term s~~~ties).
Sure, Texas, Arizona, etc are better than California in my opinion. But you still pay social security, high federal income taxes, etc.
What discipline is your engineering degree in?
I would suggest Florida, because it’s got year-round nice weather, it doesn’t snow, and there’s no state tax. Plus you have 3 coastlines of beaches and amusement parks in Orlando and Tampa.

I was probably a little unfair to you regarding your blaming others for your problems, etc.,
I apologize.
I also still recommend medium-sized midwestern cities if you want to escape the blue-ness in your work environment. They are infecting other states that were once “Red” like Nevada and Texas
Can confirm. Texas has been moving more back to the left (like they were years ago), though they pretend to act like they’re conserative.
The smoking age has been increased to 21.
The governor, touted as a “conservative Republican” made a post applauding the girls that are involving themselves in the Boy Scouts (Heaven forbid boys have THEIR own spaces like girls do).
Though we have a right to open carry, there are SO many businesses here showing a “30.06” sign (which says you can’t open carry OR conceal carry, as opposed to a 30.07 which says you just can’t open carry), and defenders of this say it’s “property rights.” I get that, but these signs are stupid, because what potential murderer is going to follow the laws of that sign anyway? Why am I forbidden to carry a tool to protect myself and those around me just because they’re SCARED of guns? A hospital is a perfect target for these kinds of people. Heck, even government buildings. What’s to stop a group of people from going in and shooting up all the security and cops? Then, what will we licensed folk do because we’re told “if you carry in here, you’re more of a criminal than THEY are!” (It’s seriously a FELONY to carry in a hospital, school, or other government building…but that didn’t stop any school shooters, now did it?) It just makes too much room for us being an easy target. Sorry, went on a tangent there because this is one situation that REALLY uspets me.
The governor passed ANOTHER bill giving teachers a raise YET AGAIN. These schools are leftist, gynocentric indoctrination camps that are raising our kids to be liberal feminists, and we’re giving these people MORE money?
I was glad the governor removed a lot of some laws, but others he both introduced and supported have just made the government stronger, and NOT in a good way.
I know what you mean. I’ve spent most of my life in California, and I’m shocked every time I visit my relatives in Los Angeles and see the growing number of homeless people living in tents. I think you should live in a mid-sized city with good job opportunities, live in a gated apartment complex with a guard (so you don’t have to worry about stupid, drug-addicted bums), and make as much money as you can. And also invest your money for retirement. Your options for making a good salary may be limited to the urban areas, but once you have a good sum in your savings account, you can flee to the small towns—where they don’t tolerate bulls~~~—to take it easy. Personally, some of the most relaxing places I’ve been to were in Wyoming, South Dakota, and Utah. Also, when you have a nice sum of money saved up, you can even spend some time in a quiet community (like a beach community) in a foreign country.
Thanks, I’ve been working for a while and I have managed to save money (not nearly as much as I would have hoped, but I’m still gaining; an achievement in of itself). I’ll look into Wyoming, South Dakota, and Utah. Any thoughts on Salt Lake City?

I’d trade lousy neighbors for lousy weather any day. Alas, according to everyone else I’m already in a nicer area of town. The last place I had people break into the gated area and act like high school fundraisers to scam folks. Plus I had my car stolen. Moved to this recent spot and had the addict barge in, much to my dismay.

But you still pay social security, high federal income taxes, etc.I know that at the end of the day, as a whole, our country is allowing the government to grow out of control. I predominantly blame the stranglehold these “progressives” have on education, entertainment, and big business. I just want to have a safe area to be in to have some peace at least and maybe not be b~~~~-deep at ground zero when it’s “Hockey Mask Time”.
What discipline is your engineering degree in?
Master’s of Mechanical Engineering – Mechatronics Concentration (Robotics). I still have plenty of background in the fundamentals of general Mech. Engr. and also took courses in composites and structural analysis. Course, I wasn’t able to ever find a job in robotics, turns out unless I wanted to move to Japan people would rather just hire a computer science major or electrical engineer instead.

Thanks, I accept your apology. Not gonna lie, it has gotten pretty bad over here and while I’ve been getting by, it’s getting to me so I’m also sorry for getting a little heated. I think I’m going to have to accept that the heartland of the mid-west is just about the only place to really escape (in the long term sense) and, like all things, there is a trade-off. Tougher time with the job market? Or sanity and peace of mind? I guess it’s silly to debate over a choice of one.

I’m sorry to hear that. It seems that upon further review, that it isn’t just Dallas that is dragging you guys to The Left, it’s also all your districts along the border. Not gonna lie, I smell some serious shenanigans in that. Especially since we are talking about the same people that bus other people around to vote in multiple districts, lose certain ballots for certain candidates, and have the dead come back to vote and all vote Democrat (Illinois politics at its finest). Part of it is from our “run-off” contaminating your state, the other is the corrupt politicians effectively “importing” their voters.
On a side note, I would agree that the presence of a law never stopped a criminal from breaking it and while we have the right to be armed and ready to defend ourselves, that was because were are supposed to be responsible with our freedom and would suffer consequences if we weren’t. You have to be a responsible individual if you are going to be free, simply put. All the Californians that are coming over there, have no right to change your state’s way of life after f~~~ing up theirs. I’m sorry for what you now have to deal with.

You have answered your own question.
For corrupt politicians and globalist businessmen, money spent on improved brainwashing is a sound investment.
@hermit
I really do want to know. Do you really think there is still hope for states like Texas? Also, are you really not worried at all about your home state getting overthrown by those larger cities?I’ve only been to Texas once or twice, so I can’t really speak for that state other than what I’ve heard.
As for where I live, I live right next to a very small town with 500 people, almost out in the country. I’m 20 minutes away from a small town of around 20,000 people, 45 minutes to an hour away from a larger town of 52,000 populace and 2 to 3 hours away from a large city with a populace over 488,000. I grew up in a rural area on a farm in the middle of nowhere. I’ve lived in this same area, all my life, for over half a century. Not much has changed here and I doubt that much will change even if I lived here another half century.
You obviously live in a different world. I’m assuming you’ve always lived the city life and have never lived around a rural area, yes? I’m not worried at all about my state getting “overthrown” as you put it, by major cities. The largest cities in Kansas are Kansas City, Wichita and Topeka. That’s about it. The rest of the state is strewn with small towns, farm land, small rivers, creeks, fishing ponds and trees. It’s a beautiful state and I’d not want to live anywhere else
I can’t imagine what it’s like living where you do. I have no idea. I can’t stand spending much time in the smallest town near me. When I have to go to the store for groceries or whatever, I can’t wait to get back home where I see nothing but trees and animals and I don’t have to deal with people or politics or stupid gun laws. I can walk out in my back yard and blast away anytime day or night.
I could almost guarantee that most Californians would not want to live here. One time I heard a lady from California say, “You all live so far away from each other……aren’t you afraid that there’d be no one to help you if you needed help?” She probably lives in one of the most dangerous places in the country, like you having that druggy come into your home. Most people around here know that there is a high probability of being shot to death if they break into someone’s home. In this state we have the “Castle Law”, which means we have the right to use deadly force to protect ourselves if someone comes into our house.
The evil in women’s hearts leaves them no moral bounds as to inhibit them from descending to the lowest levels of darkness to acquire their self entitled desires.
I left the Northeast because of rising cost of living and the state’s leftist political leanings, and relocated to the deep South. It’s not for everyone, but it suits me well. Not much work for STEM people where I am outside of large towns and the cities (but in those places, quite a bit of healthy industry), so I do have a rather long commute — but there’s little traffic.
A nuclear war that destroys all the urban areas in the US, and thus 95% of the “blue” Marxist areas, would be urban renewal. The urban areas are infected pustules that need to be lanced.
As long as it doesn’t happen before Jan 2025. I should be ready by then, for anything.
All my life I've had doubts about who I am, where I belonged. Now I'm like the arrow that springs from the bow. No hesitation, no doubts. The path is clear. And what are you? Alive. Everything else is negotiable. Women have rights; men have responsibilities; MGTOW have freedom. Marriage is for chumps. If someone stands in the way of true justice, you simply walk up behind them and stab them in the heart-R'as al Ghul.

No, I originally was from the middle of nowhere in Loomis CA. It was beautiful there, and we had some good neighbors (proper southerners). Had to move to San Jose for a job. A lot of the dilapidation from both San Francisco and San Jose have spread and are starting to affect my original home town. My parents are starting to see their roads get screwed up and a rising homeless problem there as well.

Essentially it’s the lunatics running the asylum. People voting for idiotic welfare programs while ignoring their crumbling infrastructure. A mini secret police system where you get brow-beaten if you don’t tow the main narrative. Feminists are pretty awful here, they have a ridiculous amount of corporate and government aid so they are well suffused into the entire culture.

Yeah, you can be punished just as harshly if you defend yourself here. The basics of California law is the person with the money is the person who pays. The family of the person you shot will sue you and likely get something out of it, which is really all they care about. You dare not counter-sue because it’s a waste of your time because they have nothing (typically). Lawyers and judges don’t care, they just want their cut. Even if you have a solid case, you’d never come out ahead; but if it’s the only option that keeps you alive…I guess there’s a silver lining?

“Shoot” for the Midwestern, mid-sized cities if you want to have a good income while still having a good cost-of-living.
You will find SJWs everywhere, but they don’t shoot their mouths off, riot, or throw tantrums, and get away with it in the Midwest.
It’s socially unacceptable to draw that much attention to yourself.
By Midwestern, I mean anywhere between the Rockies and Appalachia.Yeah, you can be punished just as harshly if you defend yourself here. I’d tell the family of the person shot what would happen if they don’t abandon their lawsuit. I can think of stuff that no one has ever thought of before and then some. Real creative uses for barbed wire and dental floss and soldering irons.
My blood runs cold. I have all the compassion and mercy of a praying mantis.

That is good to hear though, if I’m going to be honest, you mid-westerners shouldn’t even tolerate them. Subversion is their main tool, soon as they get enough critical mass they won’t show you the same courtesy.

I did read the STEM aspect to your needs.
So this may not be realistic, but have you looked at moving to the far north of your state
and hooking up with the State of Jefferson folks?Only thing that stopped them originally was Pearl Harbor if you dig into the history…..

Where I live, most of us do not tolerate them. I hang around with the richest of the rich as well as the poorest of the poor and most of us are of the same conservative minds. There are those few who live among us who would fit right in with your California subversives. It’s like living with aliens from another world. No one wants them around here, but they seem to take pleasure in the irritation they cause. Fortunately, we greatly outnumber them. Always have and always will, at least in my lifetime.

Only thing that stopped them originally was Pearl Harbor if you dig into the history…..The north does tend to have a more conservative bend, though I doubt anyone would allow California to split. Personally, I would disagree with it because inevitably it would essentially give California additional electoral votes once the “State of Jefferson” gets subverted.

All in all, my main point is that they wouldn’t hesitate to force you to cow to their ideology. The actions of Big Tech. companies like Facebook, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Twitter, Chasebank, Patreon, and Mastercard should be proof enough. I doubt any of you go around making sure they are unemployed and their families are shamed into nonexistence, because (granted I’m assuming here) you have some manners. I would have my doubts that they would be so considerate.
