Easter Sunday is the one day when I have to tolerate my relatives for a few short hours. The traditional family meal etc. This time the elderly Aunt was invited and during my mother’s catching up with everything happened to mention I was now divorced. Other than my nephew, The aunt had brought her daughter and assorted female grandkids and great grandkids all female. We were two men to about 8 women not including my mother. After luncheon.
Elderly Aunty gets me in corner and proceeds to interrogate me loudly as to:
    1) Why did I get a divorce… not me she filed for it.
    2) why was I not in a relationship with a view to re marrying? ….I have no interest in going through all the s~~~ storm again.
    3) If no women available locally, she knew quite a few divorcees she could introduce me to. Please no, dear god NO! and finally NO!
    4) why was I still riding motorbikes at my age ? Because I am 55 an adult, hold a full license for said machines which I own outright and it’s MY choice.
    5) to my mother ” he needs to see someone professional to get his mind sorted out”
Me: “Thank you for your kind words, but I have been sent to a Psychiatric hospital against my will, because of my ex wife and have been discharged with a certificate signed by a Consultant Psychiatrist to say I am perfectly fit to be in society. I have no desire to repeat the experience”

At this point I bade them good day and left. On my loud motorbike !

Maybe I lack ethics and manners but I’d just lie or give shockingly honest answers to shut them up.

In fact I have done this.

Jeez you don’t need this unnecessary stress and wasting time. I wouldn’t go back.

Thats the kind of family that will kill you off and think they are doing you a favor.

Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.

I attend because I am asked to by my elderly mother. She has always had the view that feminism was wrong and would lead to trouble. She lets me get on with my life does not judge etc.
She was married 60 years and stayed very traditional. I can see next year, elderly aunt will not be invited again, as none of her daughters or granddaughters are married. Having children out of wedlock is something my mother feels very strongly about. As you can imagine, no fathers are present in these family’s
My father brought me up to have proper manners. I will not lie and I am not ashamed of who I am or what I do. I always say when challenged by the female Borg “I am going about my LAWFUL business and have the right to do so, without let or hindrance” Usually shuts them up.

You handled it a lot better than I would have done, some c~~~ tried to tell my mother I need to see a head shrinker she’d get her answer in short order and a lot less diplomatically. Tell your mother in no uncertain terms that if the old crone is there next year you won’t be and why, let her figure out what’s more important to her.

My mother had a lot to say about the matter today on the phone and was proper sniffy about the daughters not being married.
Not been brought up properly was her view, but the major crime was grand kids having poor table manners and not using the cake forks provided, using their fingers instead.

My mother is from 1940 but it may as well have been 1840. Real stickler for using the proper cutlery in the correct manner.
As to elderly Aunty, she won’t be coming again as mother takes the view that personal matters should remain personal. One grand daughter used the F word at her table too after I left on her phone and was asked to leave the house. So all in all, quite a disaster of a family reunion.

My mother is very old school and I would never use bad language in her hearing, simply isn’t done in my age group.
Elderly Aunty is considered the black sheep of the family, but mother sometimes holds out the olive branch.
What’s done it for that side of the family, was the blatant lack of table manners and even more, the lack of correction from the mother’s of the children.
As dear old mum put it, simply not brought up properly.
I must say that revving up the short bottle pipe Enfield felt good, it was proper good and loud.

No need to cut them off… just reduce the number of times you go, if they ask impertinent questions, be blunt, and leave when you want!

We just don't realize life's most significant events while they're happening. Back then, I thought, "Well, there'll be other days". I didn't realize that that was the only day. - "Moonlight" Graham

It’s not their programming. Women have a vested interest/loyalty to seeing one of the hive lock down a man. Women are always telling other women what to do. Whether they’re single or married. If they’re single, they tell them they need to get married, and actively work to help set them up. If they’re married, they help them dismantle their husbands for cash and prizes.

Women need to have women around for gossip and bulls~~~ at parties. No matter how much they may despise each other deep down, they look out for the hive, and the interests of the hive. Which means they’re out to get men. And for men… If you’re not set up for future divorce rape, the weemins will help you. If someone is gonna have a bunch of stuff, they’d rather it was her than you. So they shame you into the idea of getting married and then feed bulls~~~ into her ear about cash and prizes while they tell you what a “wonderful wife” you’ve snagged because “you’re so lucky”.

I have only been married once for 18 years and it was 17 years of hell.
If I was told either marry or die, I’ll take death over marriage every time, because death is less painful and more humane.
