Thus the reason I posted this. Common law means that you treat it exactly like a divorce. A lack of common law means “palimony” if you’ve ever heard that term. It means that although technically we don’t have common law marriage, you still should pay for prior vaginal access. Because women don’t have sex unless there is a transaction involved, and one that involves not only current payment for current sex but future payment for current sex as well.

Heck, I’m continually questioning the wisdom of even having a non-cohabitating gf.

I remember reading a news story a few years ago about women in British Columbia (Canada) wanting the laws changed to force men to give their former girlfriends financial compensation just for breaking up with them.

This is not going to end well for your friend. As soon as she signs he needs to pay her off and break up with her otherwise in the future if she is still around and he sells his business and she finds out that prenup will be thrown out of court by any good lawyer. If they break up and she finds out he sold his business I wouldn’t be surprised if she still went after him for that money too. I have a feeling this guy is screwed either way.
