If you don’t know….. https://www.gdax.com (GDAX) IS Coinbase.

It’s “the coinbase exchange” but they only deal with the coinbase pairs.
    ( ETH/BT

GDAX and Coinbase are one in the same. /GDAX is a better platform as it allows limit orders./ I will shop for a good exchange. I am just happy that I own coin for free because it ran up so fast. We will see where this is in a year!!

    Good luck all.

I did not even consider putting one cent in any cryptocurrency. Why bother when the precious metal stock were making lows and still were profitable?

All crypto is is strings of computer code that started off as a computer science project for some Japanese Geezer somewhere.

The principles of how you make money are the same as trading forex or commodoties or dog s~~~.

They use cryptographic techniques to try and prevent fraud.

Sage all short selling is is making money of a falling stock and can bite your ass hard.

So in a stock market you would sell a security you don’t own in the belief the value is going to tumble so you can by it back and make a profit.

People have always and strategies that they think are fool proof for predicting it all they sit i infront of candle graphs all day …

Stay well clear Sage people get together in a big way to manipulate the movements which is hughly illegal but the big boys do it all the time.

I just don’t see hwy people think crypto is different.

My mates in the city wont go near this s~~~… They just aint intersted in it and thes eguys lose and make millions like you or I would lose a fiver -now that tells me something.

My biggest issues with crypto is that any one person who has hardware level infection will gain access to your wallet.

This is bad on so many levels since you can’ really find a hardware level malware attack with normal tools.

Worse still, they still have not invented a system that is secure and simple and is incapable of this kind of hardware level attack.

It’s not the code that is the problem, it is the implementation of it in the real world that is the issue.

Bitcoin will continue to be the defacto standard for large money transfers, and illegal activity that will keep it afloat with the large transaction fees.

And I don’t get GPU mining. After your factor in Electricity costs, and hardware costs, you don’t really make any money. It shows you do, but with a simple Kill-a-watt. It tells a different story.

The ASIC’s only seem to have a 1 year profitability window, but are still more cost effective then a GPU card.

The other item to note is that These ASIC’s can only do one task, and that’s it. While a high end GPU can still be sold after a year, at least making some money back providing it has a 3 year transferable warranty.

I guess if you like to heat your home, it’s not a bad deal at all at this point as it does make a good amount of heat running 4-8 GPU’s. Or a few miners, and it takes the load from the heating system. So most of those people in cold climates almost get the power requirements needed back for free in heat transferred to a home. Not so good in Hot climates that need AC.

I just hope by this years end, I start pulling in some serious money and get rid of all debts this year. Hopefully, crypto might be the way to do it.

$260 billion ‘cryptocalypse’ as cryptos plunge 30 per cent amid fresh China, South Korea fears

At the time of writing, ripple was down nearly 50 per cent on the previous day, ethereum had lost nearly 34 per cent of its value, bitcoin cash was down nearly 37 per cent and bitcoin was down 27 per cent to just under $US10,200.

The market capitalisation of more than 1300 cryptocurrencies has dropped by around 30 per cent over the past 24 hours, down from $US702 billion to $US496 billion, according to Coinmarketcap.

This convinced me not to get into the volatile business of cryptocurrencies. All alt-coins are dead and Ethereum and Bitcoin hang by a thread. Over the next few years governments worldwide will start cracking down on bitcoin. Bitcoin is also vulnerable to quantum computing which will kick off in a few years.

I had 10.4 Ethereum, which I was trading in. Started with 4. I was up 7 grand in my first week of trading.

Switched it all to BTC when I thought it was going bull – listened to a s~~~ call from altcoin buzz… my own fault ultimately. No one forced me.

BTC price dropped. Eth price ran away. I’m gutted but live and learn I guess.

Eth has really ran away lately. I don’t think many of the coins I’m in will reach the same ratio against eth that they have again or for a long time. That’s a problem for what I think you’ve described, if I’m understanding it properly. When your main trading currency is doing really well. They can still increase in fiat price anyway of course.

Apparently it’s crashed the last few years at this time of year and is supposedly largely to do with the Asian lunar new year when people take profits. I think BTC futures contracts has screwed some people if/when whales want to ‘predict’ the price of btc will go down too. This seems to make the whole market go down – regular people seeing the main cryptocurrency go down tends to hurt the whole market cap. If the flippening does actually happen when Ethereum is the new main currency, this might provide some more confidence for people and lower this effect in future. Problem here then in that scenario is Ethereum isn’t limited to a max amount like BTC. The number one coin, whatever it’s to be in the future, should always have a limited and total supply in my opinion.

Until there is a distributed/decentralized exchange system that allows people to freely exchange peer to peer, and not a single point of failure, there is going to be bottlenecks and things not secure.

Pay attention to the Crypto space and move smartly. Don’t just follow the appreciation of price, or you will get slaughtered. HODL is folly.

Nothing that is based on a virtual world as any value.

If people do things and gain value from it, how isn’t that so? Digital doesn’t mean no value. A functioning community with things are exchanged, has more value that a pile of gold. Gold only has value if wanted, and people either want it because it looks pretty or because they assume others want it.
