the right-wing attitude of “support corporations and the rich, it will trickle down”

    the alternative – don’t give welfare –

You are just arguing with two extremes here. The vast majority of people I know who are capable of piecing together an intelligent thought don’t want either of these.

I don’t know any “right wing” people who want to “support” corporations and the rich…what most say is we have the highest corporate tax rate in the world and many high earners already pay enough. I don’t think its unreasonable to lower our corporate tax rate to be more competitive on a global scale…there is a lot of talk about incentive in this thread…don’t you think the highest corporate tax rate actually incentivizes businesses to gtfo? You can instantly increase your profits like 5-15% just by moving to another industrialized country, and as a bonus the labor pool in many places is adequately educated and willing to work for less since we also have one of the highest costs of living here.

Same for the rich…they already pay a disproportionate amount of taxes while almost half of society doesn’t pay any…I don’t exactly see how we are supporting the rich. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think our system is perfect…I fully understand the super rich are paying a lower % due to capital gains taxes being lower than payroll taxes and I wouldn’t mind if capital gains taxes got bumped a bit IF payroll taxes were reduced to help the working class more(if I were in charge we’d just have a flat % on all payroll/capital gains with no write offs or deductions)…but considering the rich are still paying a hell of a lot more in to the system than they take out the idea we support them is bs.

And the argument of don’t give welfare…again…I don’t know anyone who wants to see all social services cut. I think we all recognize there are people born with handicaps that need help, or people that due to no fault of their own get wrecked by some horrible illness or injury that legitimately need help. What does p~~~ off most people I know though is the single mom of 3 who is on welfare who pops out number 4 and doesn’t give a s~~~ because she isn’t paying for it…just more welfare for her…or the derelict milking disability because they found some s~~~ bag doctor to sign off on them and even if a half dozen people report them for scamming nothing gets done because our government sucks. I know lot’s of people that wouldn’t mind seeing strings attached to welfare…like drug testing. I know when Florida implemented drug testing for welfare recipients part of the program was the state paid for the drug test if they passed it, if they failed it they got booted off welfare and had to pay for the drug test. The left claimed it was a wasteful program because like 2% failed their drug test or some ridiculously low number, but they didn’t count all the people who voluntarily removed themselves from welfare by refusing to take the test because they knew they’d fail anyhow. More than 2% of of working folks would fail a drug test if given one right now…trying to make that claim for welfare recipients is just moronic. Bottom line is, there is a huge gray area between our current f~~~ed up welfare system and no welfare whatsoever.
