Happy to help. You know every time I talk about this topic, and my precautions, I can tell people think I am paranoid. Yet funnily enough, the very same behavior applied to my professional field (operations) has gotten me praise and promotions.

I hold a managerial position in my company. A little error in any of the departments I lead goes back at me. I am not a micromanager, but if one guy forgets to do the quality control and a year later a customer files a complain…that is on me. So we have checks and quality gates in every single action we do. Yet for some (not so) strange reason applying the same rules to your personal life means you are paranoid.

But I know I am right. Some years ago a chick I dumped decided she was going to get back at me. My fake account received a very long email which basically proved how un-paranoid my ways were. It went something like “…and I found out that your phone is not even registered, because I called the phone company and blah blah blah…and then I went to the hotel and they told me they have no records and blah blah blah…and then I went to your company and they told me nobody with your name ever worked there blah blah blah…and I even waited for days on the places we used to go and never saw you and blah blah blah…”. And do you want to know something else? She is NOT the first one who proved to me how necessary these precautions are.

In fact, I think I am going to open a thread about ghosting.

    Best regards,

    Mark.
