There are some historical sources that say otherwise. The Portuguese imported African slaves because the south American Indians would refuse to work and died when enslaved. They actually died from lack of freedom.
Since the African slaves had no such problem…
The historical sources predated modern medicine and come from an era when things like “the vapors” were considered legitimate medical conditions. If you look at a map of African slavery and a map showing the extant of malaria, you find an almost one to one overlap.
Africans weren’t forced to the Americas because we didn’t have a problem with a “lack of freedom”, but because we evolved a resistance to malaria.
But regardless of the cause, my original point still stands that it was the Spaniards and Portuguese who first imported Africans to the Americas en masse to replace dying native slaves.
Interestingly, recently they’ve been doing a lot of great research on DNA and RNA and heredity and what they have found is that there is no genetic marker for race. In other words, the traits that separate the races, like epicanthal folds in asians, etc, were so small of a difference that it was not detectable by modern molecular genetic methods.

The term “race” has no genetic or biological or scientific meaning, especially when referring to black people. Genetics deal with bloodlines, and there is more genetic diversity within Africa than in the whole of the rest of the world. Seriously, a Peruvian llama herder is more closely related to an Irish shepherd than a Zulu warrior is to the Khoikhoi herder right next door. And black Americans, unless they are very recent immigrants, are the most genetically diverse people of all. We have the best of all bloodlines in us: some African, some European, some Native American, even a little Asian, all mixed up into a lot of hybrid vigor.
Unfortunately, the term “race” still has a social meaning. In the face of our modern, scientific knowledge, that meaning is pretty retarded, but people still use it.

You know what annoys me more than hearing a white jackass say “n~~~~~”? When some other white person instead dances around it saying something stupid like “n-word”. We all know what he means. We all know he isn’t calling anyone it (unless he actually is, which is retarded). Just say the damn word and be done with it. Pretending like it doesn’t exist, or that it’s some great and mighty shibboleth that must never be uttered lest it cause great destruction and loss… that s~~~ only gives it more power and influence.

It’s like “African-American”. That s~~~ p~~~es me off too. It makes it sound like an American with African ancestors somehow isn’t a true American. It’s the same “negro” bulls~~~ all over again but with more syllables and a hyphen thrown in. What the f~~~? Why do we need yet another stupid euphemism for black? When did calling a black man “black” become insulting? Like somehow there’s something wrong with being black?

There’s nothing wrong with being black. And never has been. And f~~~ any language convention that implies, even indirectly, that there is.
