Coffee shouldn’t be that expensive. Buy coffee seeds, grind them yourself, and drip. Don’t buy it every day at Starbucks or whatever.

I used to smoke a pipe, and I like to think it was the pipe itself which ensured I never got addicted. Smoking a pipe, unlike smoking a cigarette, is really an undertaking in itself, you have to pack it, and then smoking takes a long time (not unusual for it to take up to half an hour), and then you have to clean it. With a cigarette, your nicotine fix is so easy.

Also, with a pipe, you don’t inhale, so it’s easier on your lungs too.

I spend $25 a day on coffee and cigarettes.
    Anyone experience anything similar?
I have dealt with addiction and have 3 years sober.

Hey NYCMgtow, nice to see another city mgtow here.

I threw out my last pack about 7.5 months ago, so have some perspective. I quit because smoking, for me, is an addiction, and i hate being addicted to anything. That’s it. Similar to alcohol (i’m sober a bit over a year), i saw all the signs of self-justification, denial, not knowing when “enough was enough”, negative physical side-effects, etc.

Anyway, that’s what did it for me. That and EasyWay, by Alan Carr. That motherf~~~er’s a genius. It took me a few hours to read the book. And that made it much easier. Not that it was easy – it wasn’t, but entirely doable.

Also, support group of whatever flavor if that helps. I like http://www.reddit.com/r/stopsmoking – has some pretty cool people, and not preachy bulls~~~ or anything.

Have you decided on quitting yet, or picked a start date?

    Hey MattNYC,
Thanks for this. Great tips. We seem to have a lot in common. We should consider meeting up some time.

Everybody needs a vice. Come on! Don’t be so hard on yourself. Have a cigarette. Just don’t have 10. Have a cookie, just don’t eat the whole box. Everything in moderation.

    Yep

I smoke any were from 0- 4 cigarettes a day for the past year and ill have weeks and months were I dont have any.

Dont deny yourself tiny indulgences especially when youre going through s~~~ because you could die or life in America could change instantly.

When people ask me if Im a smoker. I say “Only when I smoke”
