Hello MGTOW,
I have been MGTOW for the past 9 months and it has been amazing.
I have been able to save an emergency fund of $17,000.
I am new at this, but without women I have become happy and rich 🙂
However, I still have a significant drain on my funds.
I spend $25 a day on coffee and cigarettes.
Anyone experience anything similar?
I have dealt with addiction and have 3 years sober.
I could be saving over $500 more dollars a month and improving my health but I continue with these addictions.
Any one have any success, how did you cut back?
I am my own worst enemy here.Peace

Everybody needs a vice. Come on! Don’t be so hard on yourself. Have a cigarette. Just don’t have 10. Have a cookie, just don’t eat the whole box. Everything in moderation.
I am continually hooked up to an espresso machine by intra-veinous. But hey, at least it’s not vodka. If you succeed in ever cutting out caffeine, tell me how.
I managed to quit chocolate. That’s enough sacrifice for now.

I was probably going to die drinking, but I changed that.
I drank hard for 15 years, now I don’t.
I fear that these addictions will last a long time and drain my money and health.
I just want to stop for my health and my wallet… but these are my weaknesses.
I guess I am looking for support. I know that the answer is just to stop.Cigarette a pack a day will kill you.

I was having fun with my answer but if you want to get right down to it, I dated a blonde some years ago, and we were out having a drink. I ordered a bottle of cheap generic Pope’s blood Chianti from the bottom of the list. She said she didn’t want any because she wouldn’t stop. Then she started telling me about her “addiction” to it… and how she would even drink wine out of her kid’s sippy cup.
(she was the last single mother I dated by the way, so don’t give me any grief about that. I only saw her once.)
Anyway, where was I …. oh yes, Australia……
So she tells me about her “addiction” and how she just can’t have ONE glass. Like potato chips. You have to finish the bag.
Bulls~~~, I say.
Learn some f~~~ing restraint. I’m no psychologist or vagina doctor, but part of her compulsion to drink 5 glasses and not be able to stop at one — is because she denies herself the ONE.
For her….. it’s either nothing or drink until you drop. Have ONE glass, and if you need to cheat…. have another 1/2 glass — if you MUST — and stop there. Then you don’t need to deny yourself life’s little pleasures – EVER!
You can smoke 3 cigarettes a day and your doctor will never know. I know a 83 year old lady who’s still kicking and her hair is yellow. She’s been smoking all her life. A friend of my brother’s wife died at 30 of lung cancer and she never smoked a day in her life.
On over-eating, comedian Louis CK once said:
“The meal isn’t over when I’m full. The meal is over when I HATE myself.”So just don’t bring yourself to the point where you’re disgusted by your own indulgences. Start there. You don’t have to “quit today”. And that’s the best news. Go easy. A good coffee and a smoke is one of life’s great pleasures – especially after a great meal.

I completely cut back on caffeine but still smoke about 15 cigarettes a day (tobacco). I don’t drink during the week but get drunk in the weekends (mostly wine, sometimes rum ‘n coke, never beer).

The Will [as in will power] can & must be exercised just like the cardio-vascular system or the muscles. As with other exercise, the exercise of the Will results in strengthening. It’s the Law of Exertion.
It’s one thing to say “I want to quit smoking.” It’s quite a different thing to exercise your Will and not buy a pack of cigarettes.
Start with baby steps as KM suggested and strengthen your Will.When women lead, destruction is the destination. -- Me.
Thanks man. I have switched brands to a “less chemical” cigarette, and this makes me smoke about a pack every 2 days… I just want to give it up so I understand that I must take steps. I tried patches, but they never stay on…
Cool. Ya, I find that if I cut something out, I replace it with another addiction. It sucks. I’ve had therapists tell me to replace it with a healthy addiction… is there such a thing? “Why don’t you make yourself some tea?” LOL. I don’t know man, this kind of thinking, I struggle with. I just want to give it up so I understand that I must take steps
I also know a guy who came into work one day and told everyone he quit smoking. Made a big announcement , he was smacking on gum ,and it was all he could talk about. I saw him at the coffee machine and he said if he even smelled coffee, he would cave and light up.
I’m like “dude… have ONE for f~~~ sake and don’t torture yourself! OR US!!”…. but no, he’s gonna stick to it.
On that Friday, I went for lunch and the f~~~er snuck around the corner and was smoking in an alley trying not to get caught. “Don’t tell my wife! She’ll kill me”. he says.
I said “I don’t care. Give me one!”. And we had a good laugh about that.
That’s why you shouldn’t pressure yourself to “absolutely quit”. Because it turns you a non-committal asshole if you tell the world and then don’t stick to it… and it makes you a weak, married wussbag who’s afraid of what his wife might do.
Being terrified of your wife is an ever BIGGER problem.
Which is worse. Too many cigarettes? or a killer spouse.She’ll be standing over him at the end nagging “I TOLD YOU SO!!! I TOLD YOU NOT TO EAT ALL THAT BACON!!!”

people definitely mooch off of me. women never offer me money for cigs, guys always do.
I’ve never been a smoker, but I’ve known a whole lot of people over the years who permanently quit smoking. And the common theme I see among them all is that they all tried multiple ways to quit smoking — the patch, hypnosis, gum, — before one day looking at their pack of cigarettes and saying “I’m done.” And that was it.
So don’t be too hard on yourself if one method or another does not work. Keep trying until one day you just stop.
