This has been plastered around social media more and more frequently as of late. Essentially it’s a “campaign” saying that if you see a woman (not a person, just for the ladies) with a black dot drawn on her hand, it means she’s in an abusive situation and can’t overtly get help, and you should call the police immediately.

Yeah sure let me just tie up emergency services for a thing I have no evidence is happening.

Also, love the logical inconsistency. Her abuser is watching her too closely for her to go for help, but he doesn’t notice the glaring black dot on her palm that she keeps trying to show people, and also doesn’t notice the massive campaign outlying what it means being streamed across her Facebook?

a) That there is a huge population of women who are never, ever outside of the company of their men, who literally are never capable of calling emergency services.

b) That they are outside of the company of their men enough to learn of the existence of this campaign without their men learning of the existence of this campaign.

c) That people do not often wind up with black ink on their palms for any number of non-abuse and non-insane-campaign related reasons, such as working with, say, pens, or printers, or newspapers, or books . . .

d) That one must rescue the 5 chicks in all of Britain who somehow satisfy the requirements of a) and b), but also must make 92,800 calls to emergency services for all the women who fall into c), harassing the s~~~ out of them and their families.

No way this one can go right.

I’ll bet you this dollar I have that even by sheer dumb luck you call the police and the woman actually was being abused, she’ll still stay with him, or heaven forbid attack the police officer when he goes to arrest the abuser.

Sooo…in this scenario, the woman has enough outside social contact/media to find out about the black dot campaign, but not enough to communicate that her husband/boyfriend/girlfriend/whatever abuses her without resorting to the black dot?
…I call bulls~~~ on that one. If the “significant others” have enough control to keep the abused women from otherwise communicating their situation, then how in the world wouldn’t they also find out about the black dot campaign at the same exact time as the women do, and then watch out for it?!
In other words, either the woman does have other options for communicating her situation, or the abuser already knows about the whole black dot campaign, thus rendering the effort useless. The idiocy knows no bounds…
