Cheaper than marriage is a no-brainer. It is even cheaper than dating. Even if you went upscale, at say $500, that is the price of only a couple dates. Plus you have the rest of your time and mental energy to spend how you want instead of worrying how you’re going to amuse a woman. The only thing that makes prostitution expensive is the illegality. Once you take away the crime, the price plummets.It is better in the sense that you can have some variety, partners that stay young, and if you’re lucky, a woman who actually shows some enthusiasm. Most feminists are in favor of decriminalizing the selling of sex while greatly increasing the penalties for purchasing sex. In other words, arrest and charge johns instead of prostitutes. This is the thinking behind the so-called “Nordic Model”.
As is usual with feminist ideology, the Nordic Model doesn’t work as well or in the manner that feminists think it does. The google page for the Nordic Model has links to several studies debunking the model; I’ll let you read them rather than try and post a precis here. Naturally, feminists, tradcons, and other willfully ignorant assclowns would rather believe the fairy tale instead of the actual acts and empirical data behind them.

Maybe a better question is: Why is prostitution not legal everywhere, in every city, by every person who wants to participate in it? Who benefits from it being illegal? And who is disadvantaged by its criminalization?Here’s a hint: keep your eye on the money, and an enormous amount of human behavior becomes much clearer. Prostitutes (women) benefit from it being illegal, because the price increases for the prostitutes. The price increase of prostitution means that the price for legal sex can also be increased. Women trading legal sex for dinner, drinks, movies, jewelry, houses etc… also benefit. The increases in price for either supply mean that men will (must) work harder and be more productive to acquire from either source. That higher rate of production results in increased taxes that he pays to governments… governments, incidentally who are currently maintaining the criminalization of prostitution.
Some of those governments are currently being lobbied (by women) to keep prostitution illegal, but only for men. The selling of sex by prostitutes will be legal, but only for the prostitutes who sell. It is only the buying of it that will be made illegal. They will probably achieve this, at least in some places. The result is that the price will still be artificially inflated by the illegality, but all consequence will be removed for women (sound familiar?).
That necessary increase in the productivity of men to be able to afford either supply is easily measured by looking at a man’s income. If you have been paying attention, it will not surprise you that a man’s income is exactly what the courts (government) uses to decide how much money a woman will get from a man in the form of divorce settlement and alimony for the (legal) sex she temporarily provided to that man.
If you are a man who has any ability whatsoever to earn any money at all through your own time, effort, intellect, risk… just pay attention to where all the money in the world comes from (men’s efforts), and pay attention to where that money goes. The behavior of the people on the receiving end of that money is very easily explained if you just acknowledge that it is the unstated goal of every single one of them (prostitutes, girlfriends, wives, governments…) to take as much of that money from a man as they possibly can.
That extraction is best accomplished by eliminating the cheapest sources of anything he wishes to trade his money for. The fact that both governments, and aspiring wives are both strongly opposed to prostitution is the most reliable indicator of the relative price per interaction that prostitution provides.
If you read above that feminists are opposed to porn, but not to prostitution and wondered why, now you understand it much better. Porn can be mass produced and mass distributed, from offshore sources if necessary, for pennies per interaction and is therefore a huge threat to the price point. Acts are the easiest things for governments to outlaw. Trade in commodities is almost as easy to outlaw or regulate. But information/communication/software is the most difficult thing for governments to outlaw or regulate.
If women and governments could control porn they way prostitution is controlled, they would have already done so. But rest assured that when they can, they most certainly will.

Firstly, the average marriage is going to last for 8 years before you get the “I’m not happy, I need space, I love you but i’m not in love with you” speech.
