Anonymous1It seems like a lot of the arguments here are based on our misusage of the English Language. Words have taken on a meaning that is no longer connected to their root origin.
“A Theist” is from the greek “A Theos” (Anti-Gods or Without-Gods)
“A Gnostic” derived from the word “Gnosis” knowledge thus (Without Knowledge).
“Re-Ligion” from the latin term “Legare” (to bind or tie). The word “Re-Ligion” means to Re-bind or Re-tie. It is a reference to the old Feudal system of being “Tied” to the land and paying your “Tithe” tax. Remember Serfs were bound to the land and bought and sold with the land. They were sold with their “Proper-Ties” that is Religion, which tied them all together in a proper fashion.
You see how silly this arguing is…The words do not mean what you think they do. They only mean what they are composed of.
How do you explain s~~~ like ghosts if you dont beleave in the after life .
THE PLANTATION HAS NOW TURNED INTO THE KILLING FIELDS . WOMAN ARE NOW ROLLING CAMBODIAN STYLE .
I think we can be both selfish, self serving and still be of service to others to create a decent place.
What worries me is psychopaths and sociopaths are particularly well suited for success in this life.
Religion, corporations, governments etc create an environment for sociopaths and psychopaths to thrive.
My father a strong god believer says there are only slave masters and the enslaved, predator and prey.
He believes war is the default position and peace is just the brief interlude between the real business of war.
yes, there are people who take advantage of the systems that exist. Is that bad? I used to believe it was. But usually the most conniving individuals out there are actually the ones who promote peace and prosperity and the whole “we should all get along” dialogue.
There is no way to rid the world of such people. We can only adapt.
Truth has no place to live in the mind of a woman.
So where does this leave the absolute morality ie absolute right and wrong the theists claim.
IMO you weaken your own argument if you start taking about adaptation to your situation. You are just talking about survival in a world you have little control over.
Which is why I asked for “useful” morality. I’m not looking for an absolute right or an absolute wrong. My actions are governed by my beliefs and emotions. If I want to change my circumstances, I first need to change my beliefs. So I’m looking into morality.
Everyone has a set of morals. Are they useful or not depends on the user of such morals.
Treating everyone as equal sounds like a “good” idea. The problem is that we are not all equal, equal under the law it says. True.
Just as true as a feather and a bowling ball are equal under the law of gravity, but does that make them equal in weight? NO. But they are equal “under” the law of gravity.
Truth has no place to live in the mind of a woman.
Have to bail brother, be back later.
I appreciate the open dialogue and sharing your thoughts.
It was not supposed to be on religion. I was asking for morality,
You claim to be a “student of religions”. I would think that you must have known that many Theists feel morality is directly linked to religion…
And most religions are rooted in paganism which predates all major religions. Every major religion in some form or another has some ties to paganism. Be it celebrations, practices, or holidays. Christmas for example (esp as it related to Catholicism) is centered around the worship of the tree and gift exchanging. The concept of marriage, the ceremonies behind it are guess what? Pagan. The flowers, the binding of the wrists as it was done, the releasing of the doves.. Pagan.
Atheism is a religion. I’m not saying that to be mean or be “smart” but it is a religion. And it’s my view that over the millions of incarnations we take in the human form, Atheism is merely an aspect of development and is as temporary as any other religion. It is a religion though, it’s a belief. You can’t disprove god, by making the “claim” that there is no god, that’s religion.
Sorry bud, you got a religion, it’s call Atheism.
I’m trying to stay out of this, but I have to correct here. Atheism is not a religion. There is is no worship, no “religious text”, no atheist religious structures, atheists do not meet in private to discuss all this atheistic for hours at a time. They do not ask for money in the name of atheism, and they certainly do not believe that the flying spaghetti monster is going to smite those non worshipers of the noodley appendages. Atheists do not ask for special prayer time to pray to FSM, or ask to have days off to observe their atheistic beliefs. Atheism isn’t any more a “religion” than MGTOW is a “collective movement”. Most importantly of all, atheists are not TAX EXEMPT.
And before someone throws this out there, no… Atheists do not worship the state. Liberals worship the state.
How do you explain s~~~ like ghosts if you dont beleave in the after life .
Was that a serious question???

Which is why I always say “Jim Croce taught me about life, but Scatman John taught me how to live.”
Atheism is a religion.
I don’t believe in any god FOR THE EXACT SAME REASON I don’t believe in the Easter Bunny nor the Tooth Fairy. Is not believing in Santa Claus a religion too???
Now I realize that morality is not universal and there are different ways of perceiving what is good and evil.
Thank you Ever5 for giving us the justification to murder millions and leaving millions of others in destitution and misery. We appreciate your belief which allows us to free ourselves from any guilt which some may have placed on us.
Sincerely and best wishes and hope that you too will destroy ruthlessly anyone in your path who would deprive you of what you desire in this life.
Hitler, Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot.
Thank you Ever5 for freeing us to hate and destroy good men like Matrix on a previous post because this is the only life there is. Since morality is not universal, you have freed many women to destroy good men like Matrix in order to achieve what we think is best for us. Thank you so much.
God bless, Michael
Having majored in Philosophy in college (and receiving a degree in Philosophy with cum laude honors from a prestigious University) over twenty years ago, I took a course that compared Nietzsche’s, “Beyond Good and Evil” and Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s, “Gulag Archipelago”. This course changed my life. If you do not not read both, you have no idea what evil you are entertaining AND justifying.
God bless, Michael

Yes, what we now call ‘Christmas’ was originally the Winter Solstice celebration and the giving of gifts comes from the Saturnalia celebration at the same time of year.
The Christian Easter originates from the celebration of the German fertility goddess Eostre held at the Spring Equinox.

If you want folks to respect your beliefs and religious holidays you should at least have enough brains to change the name of the pre-existing holidays that you stole, FFS…
Sincerely and best wishes and hope that you too will destroy ruthlessly anyone in your path who would deprive you of what you desire in this life.
Hitler, Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot.
Why do you act like these are the only brutal regimes that have existed.
Just completely ignore the christian on christian slaughter, the christian versus every other religion slaughter, the theist V theist slaughter, the genocide of countless indigenous people by every other religion, the theist V non theist slaughter….
Just pretend it didn’t happen.
You guys are one trick ponies that delete every historical fact that doesn’t support your narrative. That takes a special kind of stupid. I acknowledge all the forms of evil. Yes bad s~~~ happens, this god clown watches and does nothing to stop it, evil c~~~.
Not God bless you.
If there is no God, then you have no claim to say that the slaughter by Christians is bad. Christianity give one the foundation for what is good and evil. Once this absolute morality is removed ALL is just. You cant have it both ways. Where does your justification for what Christians did in the past come from? It comes from Christianity.
Christianity says that what Hitler, Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot was evil. Once Christianity is removed, then what they did is the highest good.
Let me teach you a little philosophy. What you are doing is called, “philosophical smuggling”. You claim that what Christians did was evil but yet must use Christianity to justify your claim of evil.
It is true that some Christian’s did do evil but they went AGAINST their own religion. Hitler, Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot were FAITHFUL to their religion i.e. Atheism (survival of the fittest). You have no basis for what is good or evil except Christianity which you use without realizing it.
Finally, I am being specific in my historical references. Yours are vague without any specifics. Not a good argument.
God bless, Michael.
1. atheism is not a religion.
2. You make a false claim there is no basis for good or evil without Christianity like there were no such thing as good or evil 2018 years ago.
So what was the rest of humanity prior to Christianity doing, not ever committing good or evil WTF??
precise example of the bias I accused you of earlier.
I am glad people like you believe sky daddy is watching. You have no other reason not to go on a killing spree I guess.
For Christ’s sake, please never stop believing, you are too dangerous to be out on public unsupervised.
Atheism is a philosophy which results in religious dogma and doctrine. Simple basic logic forces one to develop a religion that if there is no God, no afterlife, then the philosophical question remains: How then shall we live? In the mid nineteenth century Marxism and Evolution were two philosophical responses to the rejection of Christianity as the basis of culture.
Nietzsche posits that since “God is dead and we have killed Him”, his book, “Beyond Good and Evil”, is a philosophical treatise on how to begin to create a new morality i.e the Superman. Nietzsche, Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot all lived their lives according to their atheistic beliefs. It did not turn out to good for millions.
Since the average human being today has access to ancient documents, we can KNOW that they ALL believed in gods and the afterlife. Their was, before Christ, what is known as natural law, which was ineffective. Jesus Christ and the twelve apostles, were all considered “losers” in the eyes of the people at that time. How could such a bunch of losers become a world wide religion??
If one accepts the truth of Christianity, then those who died before Christ are in a state of potential salvation.
Your ad hominem attacks proves that you do not wish to debate rationally, but prefer to attack me personally. Which is a typical response when one has no argument.
One simple question: Where are the six million innocent Jews who were exterminated under Hitler? How you answer that will determine the basis for your moral philosophy.
If there is no God, then the evil that has been perpetrated on the multitude of men on this site is justified because THIS is the only life their is. You cant escape that finality of that logic and its devastating consequences on these innocent men.
God bless, Michael
With God, Christ, there is truth, mystery, wonder, awe and eternal life.
With Atheism, there is despair, hopelessness and meaninglessness. And justified ruthlessness and horror.
Read the “Gulag Archipelago” and your life will not be the same. Solzhenitsyn lived under horrible evil for decades. One cannot come away from this book an atheist.
God bless, Michael
LOL, I’m not trying to justify wickedness, ruthless killing or things of that nature. However, goodkid43, it is known that many murders/slaughtering of humans has been done and will continue to be done in the name of Christianity. Anything can be interpreted, swayed in a way as to appease an agenda. Again, religion is the top tier when it comes to governing(controlling) humans on a mass scale. It doesn’t matter what the religion is, what text is being used, if it is the consensus realty, the mainstream religion, no matter what the culture, it can be spun in such a way as to promote that war = peace and what have you.
Religion really isn’t the problem, people are the problem and 50% of the people have an IQ that is below average, and average isn’t that great.
What I am trying to accomplish is merely finding a system of beliefs that is beneficial for me as an individual. Because, I would suggest at least, that most of us act on what it is that we believe is good.
If it’s good to accept a woman’s BS, to let a woman rob you blind, make false claims and what not, well this is why most people do it, because deep down they believe it is “good”, it’s the right thing to do. I however, can clearly see that it is not good. It’s not good in my eyes.
This isn’t about finding some system for the masses, which will always be used by the minority that propagated it or the minority that figures out how to take advantage of it. I’m merely searching for beliefs that make my individual life “better”, and that doesn’t include things like justifying horrendous acts. How would aspiring to be hitler or stalin make my life “better”.
So your bias justifies that I therefore must be “bad” because I don’t ascribe or subscribe to “your” morality. However, that might be perfectly OK.
The more I think about it, what is good for me, may very well be considered bad in the eyes of another. For example, capitalism. For someone who lives on welfare, they could view someone who is a capitalist, who believes we should all take care of ourselves and weak should live in poverty, possibly starve to death, as bad.
What is good in one’s eyes, could possibly be bad in the eyes of another. Perhaps this is the great trap… Believing that there is a universal right and a universal wrong, which keeps one in a constant internal struggle as to what to do and how to live. Because there will never be a universal agreement on what is right and what is wrong, and the more I think about it, the majority, 50% or more, can’t think for themselves anyway, and it’s probably more than that, there version of what is right and what is wrong is merely based on what is convenient for them at the time.
So if claiming that jesus was all loving, which he wasn’t, but if believing that and then saying that to guilt trip another for a free hand out is so called “good” then what is “bad”.
Basically, most people who claim a religion, they have selective hearing, and selective seeing. They aren’t even students of their own religion, and most have never even read their own so called religious text. They merely listen to some dude on a television or on a stage and accept it without question, and it has been my experience, that most of these so called preachers are false prophets, falsely interpreting their own religious text. Why? For their own personal gain. Wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Perhaps in this world, your world goodkid43, those with the desire to know what is going on are “evil” and those who accept what is spoon fed to them by television evangelist, the radio, and what have you are “good”. And hey, if that works for you, great.
Truth has no place to live in the mind of a woman.
