    I saw a rather disgusting open letter to President Trump linked here. Actually it is quite disturbing….
    Others write open letters too. Right after the election, then President Elect Trump put up a website asking Americans how to make America great again. Of course *I* couldn’t resist temptation…..

    Mr Trump, You have indeed been given the opportunity to make America great again. There are so many ways to do this, but perhaps the best chance is to restore respect for the Constitution to government. Change the the portions of the NDAA that permit the secret “detention” of citizens without even habeas corpus, eliminate police “civil seizure and forfeiture” without due process, and restore the true meaning of the 2nd Amendment to *all* citizens. These (and numerous others) are all *civil rights*, guaranteed by the Constitution that have been abrogated by government in the last 50 years, some by the Federal government, some by States with complete disregard for the 14th Amendment, which states: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” The draconian gun laws of California and New York, and many municipalities absolutely violate constitutional guarantees to their citizens. At the same time, the 10th Amendment is violated with Federal laws. A case in point: Federal laws make the use or possession of marijuana a felony, but marijuana has been legalized in many States. The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, & Firearms has ruled that users of marijuana are barred from owning firearms. Therefore, a citizen may be conscientiously obeying the laws of their State, yet their 2nd Amendment rights are removed without due process. Mr. Trump, so much of what is *wrong* with America can be corrected if we restore the validity of the Constitution.
