I’m glad you got out of that toxic situation DYD and that you didn’t do anything that could severely effect your long term living situation.

I’ve been where you were in the past, and it’s either through the knowledge of the Judicial System like how MG-Tower has explained that maybe kept me out of a federal prison, or the fact that I did just walk away.

I’ve made an ass out of myself several times in my life and sometimes I really did need someone to keep my in check or to get a good ass beating to calm me down. I certainly didn’t like it, but that temporary fix by getting someone 50 lbs heavier then me pinning me down really made me ask, “Something is going on in my life, and I better start listening before the same problem happens again.”

KeyMaster wrote in a post a while back that he doesn’t let himself get neck deep in s~~~ before he takes action. He initiates a response as soon as finds out he’s stepping in s~~~. Taking that mentality, as well as some hard scolding from some of the guys here, like X11 or Old Bill, has really improved myself a lot.

I’ve talked with guys who dealt with people who had nothing to lose. You throw them in prison, it might be better then living under a bridge. It kind of seems like you’re in the same boat, but I really hope you do watch what you say on here because I really don’t like how the GHCQ or the UK is treating people for what they SAY online, versus what they actually DO.

As for people who are assholes, here’s my mentality. If they don’t shoot me, stab me, strike me with a blunt object, or try to punch me, they don’t got s~~~ on me. If they try to sue me, and I literally dindu nuffin, and I know how to take care of myself, well good luck.

Then I build myself stronger physically, mentally, and educate myself so I have to skills to create my own business (which I’m in the process of doing). I know they don’t got s~~~ on me because if THEY initiate contact with me first, they will regret that decision and I’ll make sure they can’t hurt me again, or someone else.

The weakest men I’ve ever met blow s~~~ out of their mouth first and rely on third parties (i.e. Justice System, PD, Sheriff, Main Stream Media, Attorneys) to deal with their problems, and them claim to be a victim if someone kicks their head if that person doesn’t have the same self control as I do.

Respect? You won’t get respect out of the customer OR the boss. And not just in retail! The company will only keep paying you so long as you are making more for them, than they pay you. As you move up the food chain by sticking around at one job or in one industry, and build seniority, your underlings will respect, or at least feign respect, for you. This is the modern corporation. You can tell me to f~~~ off all you want; I’m just stating how it is based upon working for 25 years.

The music industry is NOT dead, globally revenues are US $15 billion. Yes, it was $24 billion in 1999… But I work in a declining sector too, manufacturing, and I’m doing just fine. Is it more challenging to get and keep a job in a declining sector, than in one which is growing, such as health care? You betcha!

IF you want to work in the industry, instead of that fatalistic attitude, find out WHICH segments are growing/doing well (e.g. digital) and consider going into them. Get rid of the pretense that you have to be an artist immediately, consider just working IN the industry to make contacts, get in a band, and get bookings, your ultimate goals. Write down an ACTION plan for the next 6 months, the next year, and the next 5 years.

That’s right. I currently work in Local Government, but I have worked before in the IT Industry and in Central Government; currently a 20-year career. It is just as you describe. Nobody respects you nowadays; you must respect yourself.
