A decision to carry….

I’ve always leaned away from conspiracy theories or being “over reactive” about things in general.

But this world has become such a fked up mess with senseless violence – whether it is some whacked out kid shooting up a school or mall, the inner city filth seeping outside of their cesspool into what used to be safe places or Muzzies going on some knife or gun rampage.

For 6 or seven years I’ve had my concealed to carry but probably have actually carried less than 5 times (unless hunting and carrying snake shot in my .38).

Being fairly thin it was tough for me to carry without it being obvious or “printing” as they say. My XDS .45 sticks out like a goiter on my hip – but earlier this week I bought a thin profile 9mm and have carried it almost every day this week and will continue. Even in a “safe” area where I am, I truly believe it is a matter of time before something goes down around me. I’ll be ready.

Think about it, Men. S~~~ times we live in these days. Don’t get caught unprepared.

I carry as often as I can and have been for many years now. Can’t carry anywhere around my waste though as I carry large framed pistols and I’d never be able to keep my pants up. I have a shoulder rig and carry under my left arm so always have to wear a jacket or shirt to conceal. I think a shoulder holster is more comfortable anyway, especially when sitting down.

I bought a “Galco” shoulder rig. It’s called “Miami Classic” style. All leather except the plastic piece that connects the cross in back. Very comfortable. Very simple design. I bought mine from “Midway USA” for a pretty decent price, but you can find Galco holsters everywhere.

A friend of mine recommended Andrews Leather Store. A little more pricy, but I guess they are high quality and can custom make whatever you want. If I ever get another holster, I’ll be buying from them.

Worse here in the UK. If you defend yourself, you can expect the police to do absolutely everything they can to convict you.

Politicians see it as a slippery slope – if you dare to defend yourself instead of dialling 999 and then obligingly dying while waiting for no-one to turn up, you are obviously the sort of person who is a potential threat – to them.

The Galco holster I bought fits both my 1911’s perfectly, one being a .45 Springfield Armory, and it carries horizontally, which I really like. Under the right arm it carries two magazines which helps counter balance the pistol.

I really would like to get a holster from Andrew’s though. I like how they prefer you call them to order. That way you can discuss and let them know exactly what you carry and how you’d like to carry it.

What about the concept of open carry? I never understood the rationale behind that. Wouldn’t it make more sense to have the bad guys think that anybody could be armed? And open carry is of no advantage to the police. The bad people are going to close carry anyway. How do they justify open carry laws???

What kind of .45 do you have? Is it a 1911? What brand?

While I really liked my 10 mm, I always wanted a .45 ACP, so I figured I’d get a 1911 as I’ve heard so much about them. After owning and shooting my .45 ACP 1911 for a while, I traded in my old 10 mm for a 1911 10 mm. They are expensive, but very nice handguns. Reckon I’ll be a 1911 guy from here on out.

Depending on where I’m at and who I’m around, I’ve done both. There have been times when I wanted to “get a point across”, so I deliberately open carried. However, with the way the times are now, people really seem to freak out a lot more when they see a gun so I believe concealed is the way to go. Plus, there are some crazy dudes out there who may see your gun and decide to attack you and take it from you, so there’s another reason to conceal.

Where I live, the laws go very easy on gun carriers so you’re pretty safe to walk around carrying an arsenal with you, as long as you’re not being stupid. An old shooting buddy of mine and I used to open carry when we were headed to the range and we’d walk into convenient stores and no one would even seem to notice. I love living here.

I remember another time when me and a friend had just come back from the range and we were at his families house for a big dinner. We were carrying open at the time and had mine on my hip. It was uncomfortable when we sat down so I took it off and put it on the table. Some gal who I didn’t know kinda’ freaked out about it, so my friend took his off and put it on the table also, obviously making a statement. His point being, we live in a free country where we have to right to own, operate and carry firearms……so shut the fukk up about it, or leave. No one else at the table had a problem with it at all. Just this one dumb bitch.

Most of the time though, concealed is best.

when the entire society has lost its ability to see guns as a tool and instead the source of the problem, open carry declares the Grim Reaper is on your side. It puts mortality back into perspective immediately for anyone thinking like a teenager. Anyone sane remembers something taken for granted, we all die. It says it is a very bad idea to mess with you. Politeness, alertness, and mutual respect to everyone increases in the presence of an open carry gun.

Frankly I want to see the high schools bring back training ranges and shooting competitions. The second amendment is more important than drivers ed….and if competency were to increase with guns, society would become a more stable and respectful to everyone regardless of your political beliefs. Polite debates could occur again. Because everyone would remember where the boundary is.

I’ve open carried once when I was living in an apartment and having problems. Break ins. General BS from folks who enjoyed being a burden on society.

I’ve never seen anyone move faster than when the trash abandoned the parking lot and their insistence they had the right to throw a football at cars never happened again. All I did was a slow walk thru making eye contact with each social reject saying hello. And nice weather….LOL

No violence necessary. Just a simple declaration of reality. All sorts of s~~~ stopped.

Man, I like the way you think! If the schools had firearm education, there would be no more school shootings.

Back when I went to school, almost everyone had a gun rack in the back window of the their truck and there was at least one rifle and one shotgun in the rack and nobody thought anything about it and nobody broke in and took the guns. A buddy of mine often used to spend the night with a friend so they could get up early and go hunting the next day. He had no vehicle back then so he used to bring his rifle on the bus and leave it up with the bus driver. When the bus arrived at the school, he’d take his gun in the school and leave it in the principal’s office for the day. When the school day was over he got his gun from the office and got back on the bus with it. This was in the early 1980’s. Guns were just a natural part of life back then and they’ve always been a natural part of my life since I was a small child.

I know they’re just movies, but sometimes the Clint Eastwood/Dirty Harry approach actually works. LOL

I hired some people to clean up some property of mine one time and later heard that they were well known thieves. That was one time when I made a point to open carry in front of them just to let them know that I wouldn’t appreciate being robbed. They looked pretty hard at what I was carrying and I never had a problem with them. Later I heard one of the got caught robbing someone and went to prison. At least it wasn’t me who he robbed.

As Monk says be grateful you do not live in a country like the UK. Hold onto your rights with guns or you may end up like us.

The best way to hold onto your guns is to get as many people as possible into shooting. That is the problem in the UK. Most people have ever seen a gun. Guns are something bad men use in cities. Once you become a minority, you are very vulnerable in a liberal democracy, particularly if you are a largely male and conservative minority. Even though it will probably be hard work, even take females shooting and hunting. Some fools went and gave them a vote too.

I don’t think it will ever get that bad here. I watch a few gun shows on TV and they have young kids, both boys and girls. involved in competition shooting. There are a lot of women I know who own guns and shoot guns and their whole family gets into shooting.

Of course, the media makes it look worse than it really is, with their never ending brainwashing attempts. However, too many of us make up this gun culture and make it quite strong. Whether constitutional or not, too many of us stand strong in the belief that it’s our right and it’s part of our freedom to own firearms and to own whatever kind of firearm we choose. I don’t really want one, but if I had the money, I’d own a fully automatic weapon and the only reason I’d do it, is because of all the left wing assholes and the asshole media with their schitty agendas. The only reason I bought an AR15 was because of the media and all the left wingers saying that they should be banned. I absolutely think it’s one of the best firearms ever made, but I may not own one were it not for all the lunatics who want them to be illegal.

I can shoot at my own little range in my backyard at home anytime I want to, but I’m a member of the local range and gun shooting club, as well as a member of the NRA. My son’s girlfriend will soon be getting her first handgun and is very active in shooting sports. Everyone I know owns and shoots guns, except the x wife………….

I can understand that there could be times when you might want to open carry but I say make it optional to concealed carry. It makes no sense to me for a state to allow open carry only. Concealed carry should be permitted with open carry as an option…

You guys should pay attention to what’s going in Canada right now. AR15s are currently classified ‘RESTRICTED’ (full autos are classified ‘PROHIBITED’). That means that it can only be used at a government approved rifle range. The Canadian Liberal government is going to ban the AR15 as an ‘assault weapon’. It’s been said that in Canada, only once has an AR15 ever been used in a crime.

The Liberals also intend to ban the Ruger Mini 14 also. The reason given is because the Mini 14 is a semi-auto that “uses bullets similar to the bullets that the military uses”. I kid you not guys! This is how seriously fu’cked-up things have gotten up here… 🙁
