In fact, war is the very reason why Nixon took us off the gold standard completely, he said it would be temporary… lol!
Nixon took you off the gold standard because there wasn’t enough gold in storage to account for all the “dollars” in circulation. It had nothing to do with war. In 1971, the British Govt made a formal request to “cash in” their dollars for 3 BILLION in gold bullion. That same month, Nixon closed the gold window. If he didn’t, the USA would have gone under.
The answer, is no.

I’ve seen the f-22 do well in airshows, but as far as I know, it hasn’t been to battle.
I presume it would perform as well as intended, but then, of course, there’s the f-35, so……

I presume it would perform as well as intended, but then, of course, there’s the f-35, so……Cheers mate. I think our government is one of the nations that are on the hook for these planes to the tune of billions. We probably wont even see them in service.
