    Greetings,
As discussed in an earlier thread, the Zoom Video Communications (VC) system service works on almost every current computer, mobile device and cellphone and is invitation based. This means that you do not need a Zoom account to participate in a Zoom VC session.

You would need an account if you wanted to be the Host/Admin and be able to schedule your own meetings.

The hardware, software and Internet bandwidth specifications may be found at:
    https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362023-System-Requirements-for-PC-Mac-and-Linux

A Zoom VC Host/Admin will create the meeting session and email out that invitation to all participants. The invitation has a clickable hyperlink that looks like Join from PC, Mac, Linux, iOS or Android: https://zoom.us/j/798400002

If you are unable to use the email invitation, you can go to zoom.us and click on the “JOIN A MEETING” link in the upper right. Enter the nine digit number included in the invitation and the login process will begin.

A webcamera (such as the Logitech C270) will be needed for video conference sessions, you do not need anything elaborate. Most mobile devices / smartphones have built in cameras and microphones.

You should download a small Zoom VC applet prior to the first meeting. https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362233-Where-Do-I-Download-The-Latest-Version-

While you can allow your Internet Browser software to automatically download when you start or join your first Zoom meeting, sometimes the process takes several minutes. Please close any other applications or Internet Browser windows as “System Dialog” boxes sometime get hidden by other applications.

Prior to launching Zoom, ensure that you have closed and quit Skype, Webex or any other webconferencing software application. If not, Zoom will not be able to detect and control your camera, microphone or speakers.

Once you have downloaded the software, you can test Zoom Video Conference systems at https://zoom.us/test

When prompted, select “Join Computer audio” to use your computer/device audio equipment, or “Join telephone audio” to use a telephone for the audio connection.

The following URL will give you basic user guide information.
Page one at https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/204772869-Zoom-Rooms-User-Guide will show you how to join a meeting using the session meeting number.
Page two shows basic audio/video and login features.
Page three shows you how to share computer applications with other users, and how to act as the Host/Admin during meetings.

You can search for specific audio, video and screen sharing function information at the following URL:
    https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/categories/201137166-Audio-Video-Sharing

Once connected to a Zoom VC session, minimize the additional software that might be running. Other software program reduce the internal computer/device functionality, as well as using up your broadband connection.

Please let me know if you have any specific questions or concerns. When possible, I will be available to help with technical issues. Best of luck.

    HI Lordarrow,

Zoom does not have a fixed start or end time, so it will “probably go live around 10:30ish and will end after the last participant signs off. The admin role was passed along last weekend as folks signed off and the “planned” one hour session lasted for 6.5 hours. 🙂

Eastern time zone (New York City) at 11:00 (Five Hours ahead of London) if that helps. Best and look forward to meeting you tomorrow. G-bo
