Anonymous42@BVC I thought ghost ship was excellent! There’s been nothing like it since….
I just watched Reign of Fire(again). I like these kind of movies, including the hobbit series.
A lot of great movies were already mentioned. However, I didn’t see mention of “Trainspotting”, “Lock, Stock, and two smoking barrels”
my absolute favorite “Idiocracy” and a close runner up: “Freddy got fingered”
I really enjoy movies and other art that breaks dogmatic patterns and makes you think in a red pill way.Lately, though, I kinda drifted away from fiction and enjoy documentaries and non-fiction much more. I also a big fan of science fiction – Lem, Azimov, Sheckley
proud carrier of the 'why?' chromosome
I was thinking of a movie I would call a definitive movie for MGTOW. I think it’s important that we can find cool s~~~ that shows the path away. I make my own life, but at the same time, I’m not the first to do it, and everybody could use a little boost to the spirit now and again.
That said, My favorite movie, that I think does a good job of getting to the point at the end is:
Repo Man: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087995/
Can’t believe I read all this and not one of you boys even mentioned the greatest movie ever made…Lonesome Dove…far and away the greatest.
In the distance, dragging up the rest of the field:
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (John Wayne)
Shane (Alan Ladd)
The Searchers (John Wayne)
Thunder Road (Robert Mitchum)
The Book of Eli
Support Your Local Sheriff (James Garner)
Gran Torino (Eastwood)
The Outlaw Josey Wales Eastwood)
True Grit (both)
The Unforgiven (Eastwood)
Second Hand Lions
Monte Walsh (both)WHAT IF “STAR WARS: EPISODE I” WAS GOOD?
WHAT IF STAR WARS EPISODE II WERE GOOD?
Full Disclosure: I watched the “prequels” and enjoyed them. Once was enough. I enjoyed them, and I am not adding them to my DVD collection.

I have to work my way down your list…Gran Torino and Secondhand Lions were both fantastic films. Thanks man.

Swallow this RED PILL ===> Men will lay down their lives for their brothers, their women and their children. This makes Men useful as slaves. Women will lay down their lives for ONLY their children. To expect more from women is just a FANTASY created by society and reinforced by the unconditional love that we experienced from our Mothers. The key to freedom is the understanding that the woman you meet is not going to fantastically love you like your Mother did. If you buy into the fantasy, then she is your new master. If you do not buy into the fantasy, then she is nothing, and you retain your freedom.
I loved Horatio Hornblower, the Gregory Peck movie. Here’s another version of Hornblower, it’s a series of made for TV movies: Horatio Hornblower Collector’s Edition http://www.amazon.com/Horatio-Hornblower-Collectors-Ioan-Gruffudd/dp/B000AYEIW2/ I’ve seen most of them — two thumbs up!
Gregory Peck is solid. If you like war movies get The Guns of Navarone, has Anthony Quinn As well. Man’s men!
The Guns of Navarone, yes! That left its mark on me when I was a kid. My favorite character was Anthony Quinn’s. I still remember his sniper scenes, holding off the German Army while the rest of the team made its getaway. The “begging for his life” bit was a master actor in action.

DeepInThought, RoyDal:
Indeed. Most of the actors of the past not only knew how to act but they were manly actors. Where are those who can compare with the likes of John Wayne, Gregory Peck, Anthony Quinn, Cary Grant, James Stewart, Henry Fonda, or Richard Widmark? They were tough guys when they had to be, but also wise and sensible when required. (Compare Peck’s characters in Twelve O’Clock High and To Kill A Mockingbird.)
Also try The Magnificent Seven, Yul Brynner is the man!
secomike.. you didn’t read all this or you would have noticed I mentioned Lonesome Dove..I thought the book was much better..
I was bound to be misunderstood, and I laugh at those who misunderstand me. Kind mockery at the well intentioned, but unfettered cruelty towards those would be prison guards of my creative possibilities. This so as to learn as much from misunderstanding as from understanding. Taking pleasure in worthy opponents and making language fluid and flowing like a river yet pointed and precise as a dagger. Contradicts the socialistic purpose of language and makes for a wonderful linguistic dance, A verbal martial art with constant parries that hone the weapon that is the two edged sword of my mouth.
Favorite Overall Movie: “The Gallant Hours – James Cagney”
Favorite Cult Film: “Vanishing Point – Barry Newman”
Favorite Sci-fi Film: “In the Beginning – Babylon 5 film collection disc #2”
Favorite Concert on Disc: tied with “ELO Zoom Tour Live” and Bee Gees live performance “One Night Only”
<p style=”text-align: left;”>American Psycho.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>While Bateman is far from perfect for the possibility of being a real murderer and not just being a man in fantasies of killing people he can’t stand, he had truly made me wish to be him in terms of clothing he could afford as I consider myself a man who likes to dress snappy. I also would love to try many of the stuff he uses in the shower and tu stuff he uses on his face, or at least natural alternatives.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>I also found many of Batemans inner monologues, go be very enlightening on a man’s mental psyche in the 80’s if you can work around the on screen murders.
It’s close between no country for old men and American psycho. Hell , I’m throwing swingers in there too. All American classics
I am gonna have to go with tango and cash, the specialist, deep blue sea, and no country for old man!
your tears of regret cannot turn back the hands of time!

“Your Favorite Movie” for fun? “Risky Business” after all, all laydeez are…
“Sometimes ya gotta say, ‘what the f~~~….make your move.’ “
"It seems like there's times a body gets struck down so low, there ain't a power on earth that can ever bring him up again. Seems like something inside dies so he don't even want to get up again. But he does."
I’m not really much of a guy to pick favorites for a lot of things but to name a few I enjoyed the most: Braveheart, all the Lord of the Rings movies, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight (the first one), the Patriot, Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained. I don’t watch movies that often so maybe this thread will give me some suggestions.
