Pretty scaring high inflation, high crime rate, no guns allowed yet the criminals are the ones robbing, murdering and raping people. If you live in the US you need to fight the gun laws because you’re pretty much screwed without guns.

THAT is why I see gun laws as a pointless exercise! You can have the strictest laws on the planet, but the bad guys (criminals, crazies, terrorists, etc) will ALWAYS have guns. Because by definition criminals don’t obey the law, if they did they wouldn’t be criminals!

The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun who is constantly equipped, trained, prepared, and present to defeat bad guys.

So if I were to pass gun laws, it would to be that CCW license would require regular training, skill assessments and expand the 8 hour curriculum to include the psychological stress of facing off with an assailant.

Yes I do have my CCW licence. It did a good job covering the law, but when it came to when you should use your firearm, the message the class got was to think twice in using it, as it may cost you a lot legally, emotionally and physically in the end. I get what the trainer was trying to do, but his message contradicted the whole point in CCW carry.

Hence why I think that aside from knowing when you can legally draw your firearm, how to minimize collateral damage, how to set the stage of the encounter so the criminal can’t come back to sue you later, more time should be spent on how to get your head in the game, when a fire fight starts, as hesitating for just a second could end your life.

During my time in the Australian Army Reserve, before I moved to the US, we were taught, you only shoulder your weapon if you INTEND to use it. No if, buts or maybe’s. It was drilled into us that when the first bullets fly, don’t think… let your training take over and ACT! It’s GO TIME!
