Just picked up a voice mail and it was from the ex, we haven’t actually spoken since financial mediation back in March.

Long story short she left the matrimonial home and purchased a house she couldn’t afford, borrowed the deposit and legal fees from her family and took out a hefty mortgage at the age of 50.

Needless to say she is now in financial trouble and has decided that I should pay her rent as I am living debt free in the former family home – does the sense of entitlement ever f~~~ing end?

Financial mediation failed, she turned up without the required documents, took no notes, neglected to provide a pension statement and much more besides – we would likely have a settlement already had she simply done due diligence.

Anyhow, f~~~ her.

I am not an attorney. I have been through the divorce process and division of asset process. If the division of assets between you two have been finalized, you owe her nothing. Even if it hasn’t been finalized half the house is still yours so at best she could get a half months rent. If a court doesn’t order it, she can’t order it either. Wish her luck in the new life she has.
Until a court rules otherwise, you owe her nothing.
