“A NASA plan to stop the Yellowstone supervolcano from erupting could actually cause it to blow – triggering a nuclear winter that would wipe out humanity.

Brian Wilcox, an ex-member of the NASA Advisory Council on Planetary Defence, made the horrifying revelation while discussing a report by the space agency.

He said that NASA’s “risky” proposals to prevent an eruption could go wrong with possibly disastrous consequences.

One of the methods would be to drill into the bottom of the United States volcano and to use a pressurised spurt of water to release heat from the magma chamber.

But Mr Wilcox said there is a chance this would not be successful…”

Yes, I think the South Pole would be the continent least impacted by ash fall.
The southern hemisphere won’t be as f~~~ed as the northern but the exodus of refugees and the financial chaos that would follow the eruption won’t make it an ideal place to be either.
The higher elevations of the tallest mountain ranges like the Alps, Himalayas or the Kilimanjaro mtn. could also be good spots to head to when shtf on a planetary scale.

I’ve had my eye on this the past 2 years. It’s hard to know for sure, but from what I’ve read there really is no danger of it erupting, and anybody that says otherwise is just fear mongering.

Yellowstone explodes, Antarctica would be very very cold and inhospitable considering the winter that generated…Pinatubo exploded in the 90s and dropped world temperature significantly…
The size of yellowstone would indicate that staying near the equator would be a better option to survive the catastrophe…Just my thoughts…Although either NASA messes with it or not…it is unavoidable in the geologic time scale…

So we loose a year of crops, I want the sulfates to add to my soil for a better crop after the dust settles! So we loose a few thousand lakes and million ponds after the ashflows, so what, it’s not like it’s never happened before!

Always a worst case scenario from gov to keep the people in a state of perpetual panic.

NASA will f~~~ it up. I hope they don’t mess around with a super volcano and doom us all to a nuclear winter. If they do maybe they can ship us all to the Moon while the s~~~ blows over. Assuming they ever went to the moon. Lol.
