Talk about bizzaro world! Link below. Short version. Feds went after a turkey butchering plant in MN for gender discrimination because there weren’t enough women working there. The lawsuit ends up getting settled. Company agrees to hire 53 women. Not 53 qualified individuals, but 53 sets of ovaries. Further, 338 women, WHOM WERE NEVER HIRED, will receive a cumulative settlement of $491,861 in back wages, for jobs THEY NEVER HAD.

I don’t think there is any ‘only man’ job sign there? Then the most logical outcome would be : Because no woman would want to work there, for many reasons. (well, they only want a job with the highest income with probably a quarter or a half effort or as low as possible than it supposed to be).

This company gonna have a hard time and the one that makes it go south is the federal itself. Your country killing it’s own growth by persecuting ridicolous things like this and make that like there is normal to suicide.

Women are the ones discriminating against the business by not wanting to work there (and actually have to do real work). Women want the cushy paper shuffling jobs where their pay is based on how many “degrees” they have and how long they’ve gotten away with not getting fired (i.e. “experience”). Not performance, but how long they’ve been there.

As Klaus said, the majority of women don’t want jobs like that. If it was purely a matter of gender discrimination, there wouldn’t be any women working in that factory. If there are less women, it’s because they either don’t like the idea of working in such a place, or they weren’t qualified for the job when interviewed. Why is that so hard for people to put together? I once applied for a job at a bookshop. Although I had a lot of experience working in retail, I was beaten by somebody else. This was because my competition had previously been the manager of Borders for ten years. How lame would it be if I complained that this was blatant discrimination against people who’d never worked at Borders?

For the most part, women only apply for jobs that they want to have. If a woman struggling to make ends meet came across an ad in the paper asking for turkey factory workers, she would probably say, “Ahhh…let’s see how we are at the end of the month.” Men, however, don’t have this kind of luxury. When men are still expected to support their families and pay for everything, they often have to take whatever jobs they can get.

I just don’t understand this. There probably aren’t a great deal of dwarves working in that factory either. Is that discrimination? Dwarves need employment aswell. I demand that this company adjusts its policies so that it’s 50% tall people, and 50% dwarves! Hey, they demonstrated their diamond-mining capabilities in Snow White!

Remember that photo that was posted on here recently, of the all-female staff at a company that I’ve forgotten the name of? How is it that nobody’s allowed to throw the discrimination book at them for not having enough men – no, for not having any men – in their employment?
