Hi folks! So I’m in the market for work. However where I’m moving will cost 1000+ just to rent. I have to move there cause of my circumstances. So I’m going to be a working homeless. No car either. But I want to be a street entertainer, always have. Just need a costume or something. But I’m also open to suggestions how to survive this coming storm. Why I’m homeless… you guessed it, a mangina took my home, my cat, n my ex. So I’m free!!

I was that way, but for different reasons. I moved out, ran from home, at 18 to live on the street. I made it to be able to afford rent within just under 3 months. Things were different then, however. Rent has inflated much faster than income.

First off, keep everything down to one bag. If you have more, get a locker at a transportation system or such, but never store your money in there.

Always keep your money in different pockets. Do not keep it all together, that is begging to be robbed, while sleeping or awake.

Keep identification hidden, or not even on you, unless it is required by law, as some places arrest you if you do not have an ID.

I used to keep a foot on the edge of my bag, so if someone tried to snatch it, it would slow them enough for me to react, but I never had that happen.

When you sleep, often times in Grocery Stores, there is a space behind large boxes that is kept empty, about 6 inches to 18 inches. This is so the grocery manager can get an accurate audit of his inventory for ordering. It is usually enough space to sleep somewhere safe. Stick with 24 hour stores.

Showers are easy enough at truck gas stations and some other public places, such as a city pool or such.

Thanks for the advice Uly! Hopefully I can make things work before winter.
I can always store my most valuable items with family lucky enough too.

Stay strong. The important thing is being free. We were never born to be cubicles. Find your passion and stick with it. I am cheering for you.

I don’t get it. You “have to” move there, not because of a job, and rent is expensive there. What are the circumstances so important, and why don’t you force it to solve the situation (at least temporarily)? Why don’t you go somewhere else? $1000 is more than 1-2 monthly average salaries at other parts of the world…just damn expensive.

Also, rent may be cheaper if you look for a room / apartment more far, city centers are expensive. Can you afford a bicycle or public transport monthly ticket? It may be cheaper.

Second question: do you have some spare money or that has been lost too? It is always good to have a few months of living costs spared anyway to handle such s~~~ storms.

I have to go there cause where I am now there is literally no work for a guy like me. I don’t speak the language everyone demands you know here. I was going to start saving before this happened, I had just finished paying off the bills too. So I’m pretty broke. No other place for me to go. Where I’m moving to also has the warmest winters. If I’m lucky theres family that can help me find a cheap place as well.

    personal security
if you’re going to a city or town i would get a pistol…the maxim for money and guns is this: its better to have and not need than to need and not have…
    camp site security
stay out of city or at least outskirts…away from residential neighborhoods, industrial bldgs, etc.,…this becuase fsrther away from people, bldgs, etc., law enforcement less likely to f~~~ with you, which narrows your possible threats to drunks, junkies, camp thieves or innocent passers by…the fewer who see you the safer you’ll be…move near dark or dawn to lessen the chance of being seen…
    transportation
bicycle is a good choice if you have no car…the maxim for this is: it is better to fly than ride…it is better to ride than bicycle…it is better to bicycle than walk…
food: food banks, social services, church soup kitchens, grocery store dumpsters…
