The Google home page graphic is about the USA women’s soccer…so it’s forced upon us…but I just viewed the Google News Page…and there were ZERO articles about the women’s soccer team [or championship] that made the cut.

I wonder how long before they change the “algorithm” to make it appear popular/trending.

It’s been heavily marketed.
It was on the TV in a bar the other night. I looked up from time to time… it was like watching a high school girls match.
Nowhere near the same level of talent and athleticism as men’s soccer.

Women don’t even care about women’s sports, only the women who participate in sports care. Why would anyone care really when men’s sports represent the peak?

The more interesting news that got swept under the rug is the fact that the team has decided to go to arbitration over their equal pay fight. I guess they didn’t want a judge ruling on whether women’s and men’s sports are considered doing equal work.

US Women’s soccer seems like such a double edged sword for feminism. So many different ways to look at it. On one hand, they can claim it shows what great things women can achieve. On the other hard, it’s hard to say women don’t have the resources and support to succeed in the US when the US is clearly dominating the vast majority of nations when in comes to soccer and women’s sports in general. It just doesn’t sell oppression very well.

Then there is the funding side of it. They can talk all they want about wanting more money, but the reality is that they have very little leverage on the matter. Women’s soccer as a whole makes very little money. The only way these women are going to make any kind of real good money is through exposure on TV to get them product spokesman dollars. Seriously, they really should be doing this work for free as they’ll never make anything playing in a women’s soccer league. That’s not the case for men, not even close. They can definitely decide not to play internationally and make a future playing in leagues, as well as getting the attention for ad money. The national team sure helps, but not 100% necessary, and thus they have leverage.

And of course, the level of play is not even really worth comparing. I actually watched the women’s game on DVR (I do enjoy it some what) then flipped over to US vs Mexico afterwards. The level of play was down right startling. It’s almost like the difference between riding a bicycle and riding a motorcycle. The speed and athleticism was only one aspect of the difference as the competitive drive and strategy was also on a different level. Not saying the women didn’t have these aspects, but it was just at the same level.

Seriously, I am so sick of hearing about the god damn women’s soccer team! I’ve heard about every day for the past few weeks! It’s like it’s all over, glorifying being a woman in a sport. Tired of it!

Fact of the matter is, most women’s sport is s~~~ to watch. The national soccer teams of Australia and the US have both been beaten by 15 year old boys teams 7 nil or more.
The really s~~~ thing is, women tennis players are now paid the same as men for playing a minimum of one set less than the men who are ten times better. Sometimes the men play for 5 hours for the same pay as a woman who plays max 2 hours and is nowhere near as good, yet Serena Williams is still bitching about how she has to fight for equality. Are you kidding?

I assume it’s because they made asses of themselves when they won, didn’t they? Google would not want to call attention to that, as it doesn’t fit the agenda, and don’t want to show women’s true colors.

And by the way, people have forgotten that sportsmanship is a rule of sports. People who make a mockery of themselves, their team, and their nation are not winners, they are losers, and must have their titles and trophies stripped.
